I'd very much like to keep The Alchemists Collective going! If you like it too, consider joining the Patreon, I'm putting up exclusive extra comics and pages up early there! You can also join for free updates! Shares appreciated! www.patreon.com/volt #webcomic #OC #Ocsky #fantasy #comics

I mentioned this to my patrons, but I'm gonna pretty much put The Alchemist's Collective on public posting break til next year while I finish out this chapter and work on the next arc. I'm juggling a few projects right now, but patrons will see all the completed pages during the public update break.

This week's #alchartstudy was Maws & Paws! These were fun for a study sesh, this month's community art theme's gonna be Monsters!

This week's #alchartstudy was a real treat, with land critters! My favorites were the bat, frog and horse, but they were all a lot of fun!

I'm gonna do some experimental stuff with character vignettes on stream today I think. See how that turns out! I've been wanting to make pieces like those.

because i found myself posting under a few other replies: hosting your own website is still using a company to host your website. Free places are still good! ComicFury lets you use your own domain! The thing you would want is a DOMAIN, so you don't have to change all your business cards/redirect!

I'm super duper late in sharing this, but I'll be doing a presentation for the Cartoonists United Nib and Ink Festival tomorrow! Make sure to add this to your calendar, and see you there! nif.cartoonist.coop/event/making...

I'm sorry to hear about tapas. I'm not really in the business of "I told you so's" and making folks feel shameful for not having a self-hosted place for their comics. Hosting a standalone site is a different skill set depending on what you want to do with it,

I used to be one of those people pushing for self hosted sites, and while I still think it is a skill VERY much worth learning, it's a skill you truly have to make time for and maintain. There are services that make this easier, but aren't worth the cash/aren't customizable.

And to be abundantly clear, when I say 'services' I am talking about shit like Squarespace and Wix, and not, actual people you can hire.

I have a couple of self hosted sites. They're not perfect. they're wordpress- sometimes I am still afraid of getting too into it because there goes an entire afternoon trying to get something to look just so. That's mainly why I moved my comics to comicfury. Wordpress comic CMS options are (???)

I do hope people consider the alternatives we have available, like Comic Fury, and to support those alternatives in any way one can to keep them running for everyone to use and enjoy.

Making comics is hard enough, and making them on hostile platforms for a bit of cash is another ball game entirely. So is putting them in front of readers. Trying for any kind of viability in comics is not easy. We know this.

I always hear complaints about Halloween decor being out too early, but I never hear a peep out of anyone about Christmas junk being out too early.
