A little proof of concept I've been working on, it's a version of Bluesky that you can run locally, even on your laptop, that pulls just the data you care about from the firehose, indexes it, and provides you an interface to view and interact with posts.

Friends asked me to restore the code in myjavatools.com That code was written for Java version 1.3.1 to 6, and it was only running on Windows. But ok, if someone wants it, here it is. Also, I have to thank Claude that helped me a lot, for just about $10, in two days. github.com/vpatryshev/m...

Nepal is banning a swath of social media and communication platforms. BlueSky is not on the list, but given the scope of the law that’s probably just an oversight. www.medianama.com/2025/09/223-...

I usually don't post anything not related to professional topics, but this one, I think, is. How a bunch of Scala enthusiasts had destroyed the life of one of them, and only several of them admitted their mistake (or more). pretty.direct/impact

I like the term "semantic pareidolia". It's a very powerful and underappreciated concept.
"AI and Semantic Pareidolia: When We See Consciousness Where There Is None". A short article for Harvard Business Review (Eng tr. of orig.) on our dangerous tendency to attribute intelligence and much more to AI, the risk of being manipulated, and what can be done about it. papers.ssrn.com/sol3...

Just read this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%B6... The article states that what is not provable in natural numbers are still "truths" - because, I guess, they are true in other axiomatic systems. I'm pretty much tired of these XIX-century style beliefs, like Euclides' Fifth, etc. What do you think?
