Most terminals force you to split the current pane when you open something new. That quickly turns the window into a grid of tiny unreadable areas. Instead, Scotty extends your terminal space. Each terminal can be as wide as it needs. Even wider than your screen, if you want.

They just don't make em like this anymore: 'Do you not see how UTTERLY STUPID those kinds of rules would be? So no. We're not going to make stupid rules that say "you can't use tools for X".'

statusbar is a great tool to keep track of background jobs (and their progress, if they provide updates or a progress bar).

Building the user interface for a CLIs/TUI (but especially CLI) is one of my favorite challenges, because there are so many limitations. There is just a narrow path, and you have to find smart solutions using very little, unlike a a GUI/web-UI where almost anything is possible.

Good to see Signal decouple from phone numbers. Is a one time fee of $3 enough to prevent spammers from registering Signal accounts? 👀

Eris ⌬@eriskii.net

You can now buy a signal account with no phone #! It's just 3 dollars! This is great for agents and stuff since now you don't have to try and get a phone number just so your agent can text you on signal :D

I don't believe anything coming out of frontier model CEOs mouths. Their stakes are extremely high, and they have incentives measured in $ trillions to lie, blow out of proportion, or hide information. We are in the middle of a misinformation war. Assume everyone is lying.

The future of Linux distros is an agent skill that asks you how you want your distro and builds a NixOS configuration tailored to your needs and preferences.

Something I've been working on. TJ goes beyond shell history, it keeps a full terminal journal. - cli-native - will work on any modern terminal - light and fast, does not get in your way. github.com/vrypan/tj Let me know what you think.

Actually, this may be an encoding visually impaired users may prefer. Anyone with knowledge of this community? I'd be more than happy to integrate their feedback to the spec and turn a fun experiment into something useful.

This is a fun experiment that started as a way to generate deterministic "usernames" for Nostr npub keys (see the last section).

How on Earth did we end up with crypto being identified as what these centralized companies do?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

definitely a choice for all these titans of crypto to kiss Trump's ass and trash Dems while on camera on the White House

To be fair: The witch-hunt lead by Elizabeth Warren and Gary Gensler during the previous administration did enormous damage and destroyed many true, decentralized crypto projects, and allowed only the "big guys" who could buy influence and lawyers to survive.

When an AI company's security tool "escapes containment" and hacks someone else's servers, we need to ask the company "Why do you suck so bad at building secure sandboxes for your hacking tools?" rather than "Why are your hacking tools so amazingly powerful?" 24/

Sometimes I spend days investigating an idea with the help of AI. Sometimes I don't get there, but I think, why let all this effort, time, and tokens go to waste, when someone else may use the result to do something else?

Watermarking my work with a tool's stamp??? Fuck you, EU legislator. Why don't you watermark all your documents with "Intel" and "Microsoft"? I need to know if EU laws are created by hard working humans, etching on clay one letter next to the other, or computers.
