Some see a bald man, some apparently see a woman in a hijab. (In both cases for some reason the person’s crotch is saying “Sorted.”) bsky.app/profile/toms...
It looks like a stylised picture of a bald man. Is that the controversial bit? Is it anti-baldie?
Inevitably the face of the far left riot fetishists in France is the daughter of an oil and gas executive, and engages in patronising and dismissing immigrant entrepreneurs whose small businesses are being destroyed by violent thugs. Plus ça change… bsky.app/profile/soph...

Medical science, the openness of information and knowledge, access to music and books, racism, the fall of a communist empire threatening the world with destruction, stuff like that.
Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

The New Statesman now comparing Sally Rooney to Salman Rushdie is a good illustration of the wildly out of hand egotism at play in all this.
If you ever sought out the novels of Sally Rooney in bookshops – when that was still possible – you’d know they sit in the fiction stacks adjacent to the novels of another SR whose books have been withdrawn in dastardly political circumstances. Tanjil Rashid: This is censorship by other means
Confronted with this utter weirdo spouting all sorts of poison, Rachel did very well to keep her cool while dismantling him.
I don’t normally post media appearances, but this feels like an exception. On Politics Live today I’d planned to discuss Green Party infighting after the Zionism motion, entryism, Labour’s response. That kinda thing. It ended up with… well, you’ll see. Final segment. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/epis...
On this very topic, today’s @theipaper.com column is about Burnham’s progress in squeezing the Greens - aided by the crank takeover in recent weeks - and the risk that his pledge to adopt PR will undo it all, empowering rather than crushing the extremes. inews.co.uk/opinion/burn...

Astonishing cope here. PISA doesn't measure rote learning, it is not based on the English curriculum. It relies heavily on comprehension and applying knowledge to a new context.
"GILRUTH: ENGLISH ROTE LEARNING A FACTOR IN LOWER SCOTS PISA SCORES" @AlistairKGrant.bsky.social for @Scotsman.com Jenny Gilruth suggested Scottish pupils trailed England in PISA scores due to Michael Gove's focus on rote learning in English schools. #TheScotsman #TomorrowsPapersToday
Reminds me of a friend who suggested the slogan for 2026 Tory Conference might productively be “Bring back shame”.
Jail time for people who stand on the left on tube escalators. Public stoning for people who walk at you looking at their phone. Stay tuned for more mad, unenforceable policy ideas aimed at minor daily irritations.

Cheap, plentiful, secure energy is the foundation stone of everything. Without it, we will keep losing out.
Microsoft exited its agreement to rent 23,000 Nvidia chips at Nscale’s Essex data centre after grid bosses warned power isn't expected until the 2030s. It's a small piece of Nscale's $103bn backlog, but losing the site's only announced customer complicates a planned $35bn IPO.

I’m inventing the term “Scaramucci Inflation” for the ever shorter periods of time in which Trump people get fired. bsky.app/profile/wall...
This is still an option and should still happen. Particularly now Trump is treating with Putin and angling to get these funds under his control. Pack it up, send it to Kyiv and let the Ukrainians make highly efficient use of it in a good cause. #makerussiapay
Trump has pulled the rug on Western security guarantees, and told us to fend for ourselves. Very well - let’s start by using the hundreds of billions in frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine and re-arm our defences. My new @theipaper.com column: inews.co.uk/opinion/ther...

I think you can disagree (as I do) with the proscription itself, but still agree with the point made here. S.15 of the Terrorism Act 2000 would appear to apply (or is at least a risk). Whether you divert royalties to fund a proscribed organisation is a choice. bsky.app/profile/wall...
It would be wrong to “ban” books. Except that has not happened. Rooney’s books are still legal to sell (indeed they’re still on bookshop shelves). Rather she chose to pledge her royalties to fund a proscribed terrorist group - which is a crime in this country - so her publisher can’t pay royalties.
