See, the issue that Crumbl has is that it’s bad. Wads of flavorless, barely cooked dough. They deserve this.

KGET 17 News@kgetnews.bsky.social

Crumbl, the bakery chain known for its rotating weekly menu and oversized cookies, has recently shuttered dozens of locations nationwide, according to multiple reports. Read more here: https://www.kget.com/news/state-news/crumbl-shutters-dozens-of-locations-nationwide-reports/

There are only 2 good Pixar movies, and it’s the first two Toy Story entries. Also: I said good, not great. Cool your jets, nerds.

What's your most unhinged TV or movie take? I'll start. Replacing "Yub Nub" with instrumental flutes at the end of ROTJ is Ewok cultural erasure.

70 percent of the internet was vulnerable yesterday to very bad security flaws inside a coding language. Turns out, *one volunteer* is mostly responsible for maintaining that code & helping push updates. Yesterday Ondřej Surý saved the internet. So I called him up www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...

@davyandrewsdavy.bsky.social I particularly like that your psuedostat is called HHRHR, which sounds like what 2007 GM was really banking on*. *this joke is aimed at the Venn diagram of stat nerds and car guys versed in crappy early-2k’s US cars. That diagram may meet at a single point: me.

I mostly worked through personnel services during summer breaks from college, so I had a ton of one-day jobs. The one they wanted me back for but that I refused was a screen print shop, taking t-shirts out of the oven. The most memorable was driving (unused) caskets from a mortuary to the dump.

For me it’s Cleveland hard #1, then LA, then…I guess Tampa? Then a planet-killing comet, then the preemptive dissolution of the league. That about covers it.

Chuck@ivychat.bsky.social

My rooting interest this postseason: Cleveland 1a Tampa 1b Brewers 3 Meteor

I’ve internet-known Dayn for years, and met him in real life at the 2016 World Series. He’s a gentleman and a hell of a writer. I’ve ordered this, and I think you should too.

I’m willing to go out on a limb and say that there has never been a worse booth than Pierzynski and Wainwright. Just absolutely execrable. Whoever the third guy in the booth is, he’s just normal bad. But this is painful.

Does anyone out there have strong opinions on going with a NAS vs repurposing an old machine as file server? Done the latter for 20+ yrs. Current box is getting old & need to either upgrade with new guts or go with a Synology, etc. Is making the change worth it? @willsmith.fun @tommerritt.com

I loved watching him play but god as my witness I’d rather sit through 1990s clips of Hawk Harrelson than listen to another word out his mouth.

Chicago Sun-Times@chicago.suntimes.com

Rizzo will be the Cubs analyst alongside Reds analyst Jeff Brantley and play-by-play voice Jason Benetti. Former Reds first baseman Joey Votto will be the “Inside the Pitch” analyst.

When PCA does something good my brothers and I send the gif of the ‘90s kid giving the thumbs up at a PC to each other. I had it queued up before he saw a pitch.

The threads UI is inscrutable to me. How do I see the people I nominally follow? I don’t want the people saying shit like “cat tax in the comments!” I don’t want the chef that only posts one-pan meals involving a can of beans and the salt from your tears. I want the baseball people. That’s it.

I don’t care. I don’t want Twitter 2. I don’t want maximum exposure. I want to make little posts with interesting people. I’ll go back to mIRC if I have to. I’ll find a lawnmower repair forum. You can’t get rid of me

I’m of two minds. On one hand, I’ve lived in SF territory for almost 30yrs now and have learned to hate the Giants and their broadcasts with the heat of 1,000 suns. On the other, I think Krukow was the worst part of a bad broadcast. Wait, I think those are the same hand, never mind.

Maria I. Guardado@miguardado.bsky.social

The Giants put out a statement from Mike Krukow, who announced that he will be retiring at the end of the season:

Seriously, I do feel bad that it’s health-related. I don’t wish ill on the guy, or anyone associated with the team. Welllll…maybe the guys with the bible verses on their hats. But just inconveniences, like having to park farther from the front of Target, or getting a rash on the back of their knee.

So that’s the thing to know, if you’re a tabloid that’s going to name-check me in another round of transphobic shit about Bluesky discourse. I don’t stand with you. I stand with my trans friends and family members. ⏹️

My parents bought the 1986 edition of the Encyclopedia Brittanica, and I read that a bunch. It was still on the shelf when I went back to clean out my childhood home for sale last year. I almost brought it back for my kids but that would have been ridiculous.

Were you a child who read The World Book Encyclopedia for fun?

Film you've watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Star Trek, Star Wars, LOTR, Marvel, Disney, or Ghibli. 2nd Edit: or Spielberg or McTiernan, because those are the easy ones

Chuck@ivychat.bsky.social

OK, try no Spielberg.

Film you've watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Star Trek, Star Wars, LOTR, Marvel, Disney, or Ghibli. Edit: or Indiana Jones (because Star Wars and LoTR are the only ones of those I’ve seen 6 times)

He seems like a genuinely nice guy, and as someone who is going through sad endings right now while still trying to be a nice guy, I felt this more keenly than I think I otherwise would have. I didn’t expect to cry over Jamison Taillon, but here I am.

Is it because kids are “smart” and “see through the huckster bullshit?” Who’s to say.

“I think it should stand for ‘artificial idiot,’” one 9-year-old says. Here’s why kids of all ages are calling AI “disgusting” and “creepy.” www.wired.com/story/some-k...

There was a period of time that I was seeing 2 movies in-theater every week because I had nothing better to do. I saw a lot of bad movies, but the two that stuck with me were The Rock’s “Snitch,” a Lifetime Movie of The Week-ass movie, and “Baby Driver,” a miserable slog of bad decisions.

Ray Bravia Sounds more like a hard-boiled detective, but I’ll take it.

your baseball pitcher name is your grandfather’s first name and the last thing you bought i’ll go first mine’s Dominic Sandals

We had this cool-ass Indiana Jones game on a floppy disk that you had to boot up from DOS, but for some reason it required a password and we immediately lost the little pamphlet that had the password so we could never play it. Man, I wish I could play that game again.

Since this thread: .387/.478/.768/1.246, 15 HR, 11 steals against 2 CS, while being the best fielder in the game.

Chuck@ivychat.bsky.social

Pete Crow's career numbers: .237/.289/.425/.714 47 HR, 166 RBI over 347 games. Subtract games 1-81 from last year: .224/.283/.377/.660 26 HR, 105 RBI over 267 games. The first 81 games last year (268/.304/.549/.852 21 HR 61 RBI) was a massive outlier

To be clear, I’m not ragging on Chuck. Lots of people were saying the same thing. I just set a reminder at the time to check in around the all-star break to see where he was at. Turns out? At a pretty, pretty good spot.

Couldn’t agree more. Dear god, I just want Google Reader back. We used to be a society.

I keep wanting to subscribe to newsletters, but my inbox(es) are already such a disaster that the last thing I want to see there is, like, a big long thing I need to read right then and there, before it just disappears back into my inbox, never to be seen again. This is why they invented RSS!
