Writing a baseball article and taking shots at the Garfield board game of 1981, feels good. This is what I was meant to do with my life

The Brewers are up 3-0 in the World Series and have steamrolled the playoffs. Preseason PECOTA tagged them for 80 wins. BP had a piece in February explaining why they're so hard to project, and how they keep beating it: www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article...

New episode of Five & Dive is out, wherever you get your podcasts, i.e. your phone. We talk Brewers (pre-laugher), and then cover the latest front office and managerial news, plus play a game. www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article...

Once more for this one from late last night. Recap writing is one of my favorite parts of the job, and I wish I got more chances to do it. Also, it would probably be terrible for my overall health and family

My Game 3 recap is up at @baseballprospectus.com. It's about momentum, both of ballclubs and of fists into mouths. www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article...

In less than 24 hours, the MLB season might be over and also my left eye might stop twitching

stolen base plus caught stealing, I will never change my mind on this

When a commercial airs a certain number of times, I like to think it's like a Beckett play and they're living the same day over and over. Those race car drivers in anguish over their jobs every day, never learning, never growing

It brings me no pleasure to reveal that first person is actually bad. Except of course when I use it

I just wanted to put all the World Series Small Ball in one place, so here it is, ranked pebblehunting.substack.com/p/the-execut...

It was a swing if you want it to be and he held up if you want that, there's no definition for a swing so there's zero way to be definitive about this

Sure glad I didn’t draw recap duty for this one

If they’re going to do a flame graphic for every 96-mph fastball they should do a cyclone one for any pitch with enough spin

Every Richard Ford novel:

Still believe with all my heart that they should play a simultaneous series between the Rockies and Angels that you can switch over to during the ads, like chewing on parsley

Jonny DeLuca always looks like he murdered the real Jonny DeLuca, took his clothes, stuffed his body in a locker, and ran out to center field

Victor Mesa Jr. with the chance to do the funniest thing here

Are people doomposting or is my television behind: the ultimate conundrum

Drew Rasmussen took a terrible pitch, made it his best, and has powered up with it a bunch these playoffs. Read all about the Game 2 starter's big change and the long-term commitment it took: www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article...

Here's my recap for Game 1. There were plenty of breaks to touch on and tactics to evaluate, and I did, to some degree. There was plenty of action. But mostly I focused on the moments in between, and the tension of being caught in them, and forced to wait. www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article...

If you're still up, here's my recap of Game 1, which felt like reviewing the pilot of a television show without seeing the rest of the series. It was a good game, but it was just the beginning.

Since we haven’t killed them, here’s another link to my piece about the insipid Google Cloud ads

It’s the Steven Matz Game. …It’s the Steven Matz Game?

Starting to wonder how many outs the Rays would need to score a run

(seeing the Yandy Díaz graphic) you know, radio wasn’t so bad

What I’ve learned about the discourse around You Can See Everything is that most people would be in favor of movies having a pitch clock

Really great piece, free to read with a basic subscription

mumbling to no one, like a madman: you can't have two first pitches. you can't. words mean things

Almost had the first postseason matchup where one pitcher's DRA- (Miz, 59) was half of the other's (Martinez, 116)

(“I’d better sweep those mines” voice) I’d better toss sweep right

The Fielding Bible results are in - go take a look. I think they're all correct, except the ones that went a different way than how I voted

This week @baseballprospectus.com I wrote about Aaron Boone returning to NYY for another year. Very few managers (14!) have had 10 consecutive years w/the same team despite not winning a championship in that time. Does Boone's record fit with theirs? And were those teams wise or just constipated?

just incredible work. reading this is like getting struck out by Misiorowski and just chuckling on the walk back to the dugout

I wrote about how I approached the process for voting for the Fielding Bible Awards, which get revealed today at 3:00 PM at @sportsinfosolutions.com. And then afterwards, at the bottom, I revealed who I actually voted for as well.

The World Series is about to start, so I tackled the subject at the front of everyone's minds: roster management

I live in a pretty okay place

In my wrap on the #Dodgers season, I couldn't help be examine how basically the entirety of MLB's best teams have at least some front office experience with Andrew Friedman. And now it's a WS matchup between his former no. 2's. www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article...

The Tampa Bay Rays are back in the Series. Today for @baseballprospectus.com I wrote about it, and the Trop, and a maligned and effective legacy of jury-rigged baseball. www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article...

Quick, name the cleanup hitters for the Guardians the last four times they were eliminated from the postseason. If you can't, don't worry, that's the point. If you can, well, you probably see where I'm going with this. www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article...

Off the field, Drew Rasmussen says things like "shoot" and "golly." On the mound, he's a stone-cold killer. On the change he made this year, and how it took him (and the Rays) to the World Series: www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article...
