Absolutely incredible: Tuesday morning's high tide in #Miami exceeded the major flood threshold... that is the 1st time it has ever happened in the city's history without a hurricane storm surge. It tied (within 0.1 inches) the storm tides produced by Irene on Oct 15, 1999 and Wilma on Oct 24, 2005.

One year ago, my note that Jamaica had never had a Cat 4 hurricane hit. Then Melissa hit as a Cat 5.

Folks: Jamaica has never had a Cat 4 or 5 landfall, can you believe it? Map shows the Cat 3s. Most recent close pass by Cat 4 was just last year, Beryl 2024. #Melissa could be closer, stronger, and last longer. List of deadliest/strongest Jamaica Hurricanes www.accuweather.com/en/hurricane...

October 23, 1920: Dr. Ted Fujita was born in the Fukuoka Prefecture of Japan. Fujita devoted his life to the study of tornadoes, supercells, and downbursts. He is most notably the creator of the scale utilized by the National Weather Service to rate tornadoes.

A TVS (Tornadic Vortex Signature) *IN* the Cone of Silence? Don't think I've ever seen this before! The Flagstaff radar tagged a TVS overhead at "Range: 1 mi" (first image is MRMS composite)

Tornado warnings, TVS signature, 72 mph gust, 1.25" hail. Not something you see every day in Flagstaff, Arizona. (radar from an hour ago). Also 1st tornado watch for NWS Flagstaff SINCE 2010!

Our Nor'easter has generated some significant winds, wave and surge already: Diamond Shoals, NC: 51.4 mph Kings Bay, GA: +2.62' storm surge Buoy 41010 (off FL coast): 17.8 ft waves

Finally tipped over to 10TB of data at home last two months on Xfinity. Thank goodness for the Pennsylvania data cap loophole. Our advertised speed here is 2000 Mbit/s & up / 250 Mbit/s down, but our average speed is closer to 1000/300. See less
