As the UK Government talks a big game of being ready to join the US and Israel in war, over 150 families are mourning their children.
Their little girls were mostly aged 7-12.
A favourite cringe story came when an SNP councillor suggested to a Labour education Convener in Tayside Region that Scottish studies should be an integral part of the schools curriculum. He replied, โNo, we live in a multicultural society!โ Every culture was to be taught there except our own.
A classic story of the Scottish cringe from Scots The Mither Tongue - the moment when James Boswell met the Scotophobe Englishman, Dr Samuel Johnson in London. You can listen to me narrating the whole book on Audible. Itโs a totally cringe free zone!
St Andrews is a beautiful place steeped in Scottish history. All my children went to Madras College there too so I greatly value it and want it to thrive. This was an aberration though which reeks of cultural colonisation.
To everyone who abhors this ludicrous cultural assimilation hereโs another sign from a close in Cupar that has relevance to Scots and reminds me of the Scots phrase, โTak tent or itโs tint.โ - take care or itโs gone - use it or lose it. Yaise yer leid ilka day o yer life, friens.

Is Scotland any different?
Do we live in a Regime?
We have to live by a set of rules.
We have to operate a certain way.
Resources, Spending & Media are all controlled by another Govt in another Country.

Despite its freshly polished nameplate Scottish Labour is still a branch office. Maybe different if Sarwar had completed his Starmer attack & announced a new Scottish party that dares to back indy/indyref2. But two tribes have gone to war & there are no winners

Without a shadow of a doubt that there is one rule for Westminster and the Monarchy, and another for the rest of us.
The rules in the UK stink another reason for Independence.
Anas Sarwar made the best argument ever for Scottish independence on Monday. He admitted that Westminster has let Scotland down for the last 16 years.

โI thought Anas saying that he liked Keir but he had to put Scotland first was priceless - comedy gold in fact - because on talking to them both on the phone last night the one thing we all agree upon is that none of us gives a flying f**k about Scotland. We had such a good laugh!โ
So, Anas Sarwar in 2024 wanted UK Labour to deliver change that would benefit Scotland.
He asked us to vote for Starmer.
Now he says that UK Labour is not delivering for Scotland.
He is effectively saying we need decisions made in Scotland.
How can we trust him?

Farage and Reform point the finger. They do not fix the problem.
They offer blame, not answers. They offer slogans, not solutions.
Housing stays broken. Wages stay low. Public services keep failing.
If you want change, you need policies that work. Not someone to blame.

A passage from my memoir Born in Kyle on our Scottish identity in the 1960s before the rise of the modern national movement. My dad had a dry wit that told it like it was. A true TV memory. You can get the book on Amazon & Kindle. I can even whisper it aw in yer lugs on Audible!
We donโt have to put up with this broken, chaotic, failed Westminster system.
Scotland needs a fresh start with independence - and that starts with voting SNP on 7th May.

"To support Nigel Farage and his far-right agenda is to betray every man and woman who gave their lives during the Second World War fighting the extremism that threatens to topple Europe once more.
True patriots know this."

In Northern Ireland, the system of devolution includes a provision for independence referendums.
In Scotland, there is no such provision.
The Scotland Act 1998 was a stitch up.
Sad to hear of the passing of a wonderful woman,
Jeane Freeman. I met her during the 2014 Referendum campaign when we addressed a Labour for Independence gathering in Kirkcaldy and she was outstanding in communicating the socialist case for independence. Weโll miss her humanity.
