Scotland could expect to separate from the UK and become an EU member within seven years (or less) of its Declaration of Independence.
Here's a description of how.

#BBC Radio 4 5pm News considers the radical move to pedestrianise parts of Oxford Street. A spokesperson refers to precedents in other parts of the world eg in South Korea.
Here is what the 3 principal streets of Glasgow city centre: Argyle St, Sauchiehall St, Buchanan St have looked like for years.

Netanyahu knew everything about October 7th, well before. Western leaders repeated his lies for the next three years, even when they knew better. Still they talk Two State Solution during a genocide. Complicit.
Full marks to Cillian Murphy for taking on this emotionally demanding role in Small Things Like These when he could have just continued to exploit his success as a hard man in Peaky Blinders. Quiet, powerful film.
When they turn out to be just like you suspected...

Torture, terror and extrajudicial executions: the Dirty War in Northern Ireland and my search for truth
For decades Iโve investigated collusion between British military intelligence and terrorists
One question has always remained: given the crimes committed how can Britain call itself a democracy?
The poorest people in Ireland, have a standard of living 63% higher than the poorest people in the UK.
Northern Ireland has to leave the UK, and pursue Irish Unity.
Neal Lawson: "I couldn't live on the meagre benefits people are getting. To suggest that we have to cut those.. actually that's where the engine of growth is, that's the people who spend.. how do you get people out spending.. not by cutting benefits of people at the bottom"
Another super session from Mehdi Hasan. Worth listening to the whole video if you want to get a measured feel for the state of politics in the USA today.

On the eastern edge of Glasgow Green stands this memorial and a low stone wall along the edge of the Clyde. These are a reminder of a rather contentious structure built in 1796 and known as Allan's Pen.

Remember this regularly renamed great ๐ฌ๐ง British Government initiative to replace the loss of the EU Regional Fund?
Future High Streets Fund; Town Deals; Levelling Up Fund; and now Labour's Local Regeneration Fund.
It cut out national governments, was a vastly smaller fund - and has mostly failed.
Scotland's Awaab's Law came into force on October 6, requiring landlords to investigate mould reports within 10 working days amid widespread condensation concerns
Here's everything you need to know about the legislation change
After the death of BBC Scotland, thereโs only one possible course of action: the SNP must demand that broadcasting powers be devolved from Westminster to Holyrood. This country has been deliberately failed by London. So we need to take broadcasting into our own hands

It struck me that almost every seemingly intractable problem on today's front pages could be substantially alleviated simply by taxing the extraordinarily wealthy people and corporations whose greed, short-termism and pursuit of power we protect at the expense of almost everything else.
A deadline for a youth mobility scheme between the EU and the UK could be deferred by six months in a bid to ensure Andy Burnham has a successful โresetโ summit on 20 November, diplomats have said.
Because making Burnham look good is the point?

NAZA is an updating of the famous Milgram experiment in social obedience. It's a foretaste of the terrifying dangers of the AI rollout. And it's a case study in the human capacity for evil.

There's a modern student accommodation block on the narrow strip of land between Argyle Street and Old Dumbarton Road in the Yorkhill area of Glasgow (top left), but if you look at its northwestern corner, you'll see a piece of old wall which seems rather out of place (top right).

By strengthening trade links with India, we can support jobs and economic growth across Scotland.
Thatโs why Iโm here with a trade delegation, helping Scottish businesses reach new markets and showing what our country has to offer.

Iโm outraged that my constituent, Rabbi Justin David, was detained in the West Bank while protecting Palestinians who were harvesting their olive groves. Iโm relieved to hear that he has finally been releasedโbut the Israeli government should never have taken him into custody in the first place.
The BBCโs PM show just ran the most astonishingly biased report on migrant workers in industries like the care sector. A columnist from The Times (rightwing, Murdoch owned) was allowed to attack immigration without pushback. The union chief defending workers was sweated like an enemy. Totally loaded

I saw a UK Govt ad today acting like they were doing people a favour by keeping charges of ยฃ9.90.
Meanwhile, prescription charges were abolished in Wales in 2007, in Northern Ireland in 2010 and in Scotland in 2011.
