started playing mass effect again, remembered within ten minutes that the primary theme of the entire series is "do not create things that you cannot understand the consequences of." good thing we killed this series in 2026, would hate for anyone to have to consider that question.

really think we should be talking about the brewers as one of the best teams in recent memory. i mean, maybe people are by this point, but for a 104 win team to just erase everyone in the playoffs like this (against the toughest LCS and WS matchups they could have drawn) is really something.

co-sign. it's not perfect but if you're trying to use the angle MLB is currently testing out I don't trust you at all.

The vibes-based "I know it when I see it" system of umpires determining if a swing was successfully checked or not is actually fine — a time-tested and effective solution to an annoying problem — and anyone trying to write a new rule to make it "objective" is a sicko who should not be trusted.

control: resonant isn't quite the home run i was hoping it would be (at least not for me) but i gotta say, the running "do not eat the mold" plotline/gag will never at any point be not funny to me

that was maybe a swing and maybe it wasn't (and i don't think ABS will fix check swings the way people want it to) but that overhead view looks like a very bad parallax to me and i don't think it's actually evidence either way.

for all the talk of small ball and whatever else this is the thing the brewers are actually doing that will change baseball forever. we were definitely over 50% of the way there before now, but this is more or less the end of playoff starting pitching, i think.

It's a new World Series Weird & Wild I found one more way these Brewers are trying to win a World Series like no team ever has before. Here's a hint. The secret formula is: Don't press START (Unlocked and free to read) www.nytimes.com/athletic/771...

this sounds like i'm passing a value judgement and maybe i am because i think this sort of baseball is less narratively satisfying and aesthetically very different (and i think a little ugly, but YMMV) than what we normally, but it's really just an observation

THIS is what i mean when i say "playoff baseball does not remotely resemble regular season baseball, and it's weird." you don't need a starting rotation. you can lean heavy on 3ish good relievers with all the off-days.

abner uribe and a[mumbles] ashby, the latest in a long line of good brewers relievers who i assume are secretly bullshit because i saw them blow leads to the pirates

one year the pirates had like four relievers named "nick" and now i assume every pitcher named nick has pitched for the pirates, this is what getting old does to your brain

heard the kashmir guitar riff and immediately assumed it was the jimmy page and puff daddy godzilla songtrack abomination due to the rays wearing these uniforms,

excited for people who do not watch the brewers normally to get to see pat murphy acting like the most crotchety old man you've ever seen in your life while managing a team in the world series.

i'm bummed about what has happened to bioware over the last decade and especially this week and love mass effect as much as anyone but you absolutely cannot convince me a game named "Mass Effect: Universe" was going to be a good game

dang and i thought fake phishing messages that just said, "[whatever VP-level admin] has sent you a Teams message, click here to see it" were bad

this is fucking appalling. i already knew james dolan (who owns the knicks and madison square garden) was a douche but this is next-level. www.nytimes.com/athletic/771...

it's funny that control resonant's developers have done the THERE'S NO YELLOW PAINT IN THIS GAME, WE TRUST THE PLAYERS thing, because the game not sign-posting certain types of missions is going to lock a bunch of people into a dozen really drab hours at which point they quit and never come back

you do eventually figure this out and pushing the main story brings you to the places you need to go, but if you take your time to find some of the weird shit around the opening area (because that's what you do in these games!) ...

i LOVE the remedyverse games and like to think that i'm a smart enough person to understand how games like this work and i nearly fell off this game entirely at ten hours, primarily beacuse

it in no way tells you "the traversal powers required to make this game something interesting and fun and unique are in the missions where you chase jesse's memory, which are not at all marked on your map"

if you want just a general state of how video games have been going, the Mass Effect sequel that got canceled today along with BioWare getting the axe is being described as being in "early development" by most of the stories mentioning it. it was announced in 2020.

real dichotomy of reactions to "bioware is closing" between people who have and have not paid attention to video games since before the pandemic.

i would be curious to know how many studios ruined themselves and how many jobs got lost chasing Destiny over the last 12 years. hell, it even ruined Bungie.

BioWare, which was once hundreds of employees across three offices, had around 50 staff remaining when EA closed the studio this morning. EA gutted BioWare after the release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard last year, as we reported then: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...
