Well the first person to describe measles was Abu Bakr al-Razi, and he knew more about the disease than RFK Jr despite living >1000 years ago 🤷🏻‍♂️ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abu_Bak...

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

"In the empire’s world, belonging was a double-edged blade....Conformity to the empire’s will was a way of survival, a bitter peace won through the erasure of identity. There was no space for wild diversity, no room for the vast and beautiful spectrum of human existence."

A beautiful bobcat visits at night and then again the next day (I think it's the same one). Both times, she stops to spray/mark the trail camera (um... thank you?) #cats #mammals #nature #pnw #seattle #love #goodmorning #nokings #BeKind #trailcam #wildanimals

I was a big fan of Gamma World... c. 1982 I had a friend whose father was a fundamentalist Christian pastor and he forbade him from the "demonic" D&D, but allowed Gamma World. Still remember the day I learned that Tim didn't believe dinosaurs existed because the Bible didn't mention them...

That ttrpg? Gamma World.

Lucky Break - October 19-20, 2026 #timelapse from Crestone, Colorado USA Forecast for rain was very low... how my exposed Raspberry Pi didn't get fried I'll never know. Dervish by Tar Sahno is licensed under a Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. #astronomy #astrophotography #cowx

Though the forecast of rain through the night was fairly low, I took it as a sign to bring the cameras in. I woke up to a steady drizzle. Yellow box is what the exposed Pi (and Sony cameras) survived. I'm pretty sure it would not have taken the morning drenching well.

Wind recalls the horse, reminds of the twitching ears. It stalks the back field alone, minds the sky, turns its head to note time of day. Estranged, it flickers, & I am spellbound waiting for the refrain to return. I listen for the wonder . . . fr—Horse Katie Chaple www.wabe.org/atlanta-poet...
