<insert "is this marketing" gif here> hi. I'm mel. I write queer fantasy/romance (mostly mm and always hea). my books are available on several platforms ('zon, kobo, itchio) but there's also a cheeky-sneaky way to get them through my website (along with tw/cw, links, etc). wildfaeriecaps.com

website has been updated. woo! there's a bit of a treat for folks who subscribe to my nonexistent newsletter (it'll make sense if you read the thing on the site, I promise). anyway, yeah. it was a headache and a half, but I'm proud of how it turned out. wildfaeriecaps.com

Looking for queer historical romance with sinister supernatural shenanigans? Of course you are. THE SECRET CASEBOOK OF SIMON FEXIMAL and SPECTRED ISLE are both 99p everywhere this week! (If sale isn't showing where you are give it time, includes Amazon and all the usual suspects, e only)

went outside again. saw trees. found some cousins. was almost carried away by a legion of mosquitoes. lived to tell the tale.

had an ache in my neck/head/shoulder when I went to bed last night. woke up in the middle of the night unable to turn my head. awesome. it's been a day of pain killers and heating pads. I can kind of tilt my head about two degrees now. bodies are a scam.

went outside today. touched as little grass as possible. was dive-bombed by at least a dozen enormous dragonflies. avoided a snake. pretty sure I didn't step on any crickets. communed with the cows. not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

once again, authors, I am *begging* you. that book you're trying to market? the one you want us all to buy? PLEASE, for the love of I-have-too-many-tabs-open-in-my-brain, include a link where I can buy it.

possibly my fave of the series, but you should absolutely read all the books before it (and Shadow Elite. for reasons).

Hi #PortfolioDay ! I'm a transmasc cover artist and character designer for MM and Achillean books of various subgenres. I still have some slots open for the second part of 2027! www.thistle-arts.com thistlearts@proton.me

I finished edits on a book at the beginning of the year. burnout hit like a meteor just before proofreads. so I never did it. never published it. it's just there. formatted. languishing. while I've tried to write new things here and there, everything has sputtered out.

I know burnout doesn't make me a failure, but fuck if it doesn't feel that way. I've published ten books in five years and have maybe had a handful of readers who don't know me personally. not sure where I'm going with this. just having one of those "if not a writer, who am I" days, I guess.

I'm finding it difficult to be productive (with non-obligations) lately. I started this month with a compulsion to play Leafy Corner but having finished that, am now utterly addicted to Bear and Breakfast. it's kind of wild how much time I'm spending playing video games every day.

first read of this year's #OcTBRChallenge is The Beast Who Begged Me by Leighton Greene. I've been looking forward to this one for a while. it was a fantastic ending to a great trilogy and definitely makes me want to binge read the related series again.

#OcTBRChallenge book fourteen: Immortal Bonds by AW Scott. I had no idea this was part of the San Noctis series, so that was a pleasant surprise.

#OcTBRChallenge book twelve: The Spellreader and the Phoenix this. was. so. good. want an urban fantasy with mates and magic and ace rep? look no further. I will now be anxiously awaiting the next book (The Spellsmith and the Dragon).

#OcTBRChallenge book thirteen: Palingenesis by Rae Stone. somehow I managed to read two (sort of) phoenix books one right after the other completely accidentally. weird.

so. the project that's been consuming me entirely is.. not finished, but done enough that I'm taking a break from it. book images mostly from the evil river and had to paint/design/letter the spines with no reference aside from cover vibes. I did my best. here's my gay little library, I guess.

light details because I'm stupidly proud. I altered a model of a turtle keychain I found on makerworld (I say altered, I sliced off the turtle part). the base threads are glued to the ceiling. in the center is a metal disc for the rechargeable led to stick to. the whole thing glows in the dark.

#OcTBRChallenge book eleven: The Kraken and the Baker by Ellie Ash. I read this one when it was a short story in an anthology and am so pleased that it was expanded into a complete novella.
