What follows if we imagine rivers as having lives, deaths––& even rights? I wrote this essay about water & hope; imagining rivers “otherwise”; nature’s rights; grammars of animacy; & how our fate flows with that of rivers—& always has. It’s from Is A River Alive? www.theguardian.com/books/2025/a...

theguardian.comIs this river alive? Robert Macfarlane on the lives, deaths and rights of our riversAs pollution levels hit record highs and fresh water becomes ‘the new oil’, is it time to radically reimagine our relationship to the natural world?

What’s fluency and why is it important? Should you use extracts or full texts? How do you approach a class discussion about a book? Hear @suchmo83.bsky.social’s wise insights on these questions and many more, and share with anyone who cares about getting kids reading. youtu.be/DyrGjl-U2Xc?...

Despite all of the challenges - legal and meteorological - we did it! After 40 years of damaging deregulation, Greater Manchester has this morning successfully retaken control of the whole its bus network. 🙌🏻

I think Wikipedia is a valuable teaching resource and I urge all teachers to donate at least once a year. Far better than Twinkl

Idea - if you were one of the main cheerleaders for the catastrophic Brexit you’re not allowed to publicly advocate for any of your other ‘ideas’ for ‘improving’ the country until 2036, before which time you must spend a minimum of half an hour a day sitting and contemplating why you’re a big silly.

One of my early jobs was working for HTV Cymru/Wales. The show was All Kinds of Everything and Terry Griffiths was my guest. A gentle ♎️ with great warmth and charm. I’m truly sad that he passed due to debilitating dementia. Such a nice man: I’ve only fond memories of Griff 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Feeling irked by friends of my parents who have been bitterly complaining on FB about 'brutal' cuts to the Winter fuel allowance, posting anti-Labour memes every day. Meanwhile, they are also posting images of the wonderful meals they are eating every day in their month long holiday to Greece.

You are up to date.
