I’ve hosted #Woking based @walkthewalk.bsky.social in Parliament to continue our call to widen access to mammograms and breast screening.

Ten years on, we have the worst of both worlds on immigration and asylum. Without freedom of movement, businesses face red tape while losing skilled workers. Restoring it cuts business costs, creates quality jobs for Young people, and helps us tackle the crisis together.

With the budget next week, the Chancellor needs to give British people the breathing space to tackle the cost of living. People across the UK are struggling with everyday expenses, and we need urgent action to cut energy bills, cut travel costs, and introduce a VAT cut to support hospitality.

Ahead of the Budget next week, I have urged Ministers to unlock stalled brownfield development sites - including the 2,000 unbuilt homes in #Woking - to relieve pressure on our greenbelt and build the homes we need.

In #Woking town centre more than 2,000 homes already have planning permission but remain unbuilt. The Government's broadly defined "greybelt" policy doesn't address this landbanking, but risks undermining the character of our towns and villages by destroying the greenbelt.

Rejoining the EU single market and customs union would boost growth, raise revenues and allow tax cuts for everyone. The PM admits Brexit has damaged our economy—so what is he waiting for?

Donald Trump and Elon Musk undermined Ukraine's defences – directly aiding Putin's war machine. That's beyond the pale. The Prime Minister must stand up to Trump and forge a united front in Europe. We cannot allow Musk and Starlink to gain even more power over our continent.

Last month, I joined #Woking's Your Sanctuary at their conference on tackling domestic abuse. One of their key asks was implementing the 2020 Harm Review. That's why I've questioned the Attorney General on what more she'll do to increase prosecution rates for domestic abuse.

Visited #Woking’s York Road Project to mark #WorldHomelessDay. Cherisse, Tim and the whole team at the shelter do an incredible job to reduce homelessness locally.

Great news for West Byfleet - the village is getting a Post Office! The branch will open in Botanical Place on Monday 14th December. After Lloyds closed, West Byfleet was left without any Post Office or banking services in the village, so I'm delighted that they are returning.

Earlier this week, the Housing Secretary announced a Government U-turn - they will now regulate property management agents. Something I have long been calling for to help people in #Woking and across the country hold companies who run their homes.

100 residents were evacuated from #Woking's Eastgate building in 2023. Despite independent testing being carried out, the results haven't been released and it still sits abandoned. I've demanded the results be released immediately and residents given a full explanation.

A #Woking resident lives in fear after the Probation Service released her former partner and warned her that he had made threats against both her and her child - and that she needs rehousing for her safety. The Government must boost probation staffing to prevent cases like this.

#Woking has almost 180 families in temporary accommodation, with 20 of them being housed outside of the borough. People housed in temporary accommodation should be able to stay in their communities, and I'm pushing to ensure that councils can do this.

Raising the tax-free personal allowance. Trusting people to spend their own money, not telling them the state knows best. Real money, £680 a year, back in people’s pockets.

Liberal Democrats took more than 3 million people out of paying income tax with the personal allowance. 

So we will raise the tax-free personal allowance to £15,000. Taking 2 million more people out of paying tax altogether, and giving most taxpayers a £680 tax cut.

I'm deeply concerned that #RNLI lifeboats were recently turned away from two ports, Portsmouth and Southampton. I've demanded that the Government explains why harbourmasters were allowed to turn away lifeboats that are there to save lives.

For the first time in its history, the last Commonwealth Games wasn’t broadcast for all to watch. Football fans are having to pay almost £700 to follow their club in this season’s Premier League. I’ve called on the Government to ensure there is more, not less, free-to-air sport.

Just leaving #Woking Library, having done my weekly advice surgery - and now off to Parliament. MPs are voting on Health, Civil Aviation Authority, Social Housing and Assisted Dying Bills this week.

Four #Woking teenagers are competing in the Martial Arts World Championships, but have to pay a fortune for the privilege. I'm calling on the Government to provide more support to young athletes representing their country internationally.

Farage has always behaved as though the rules apply to everyone but him. These allegations against Reform look like the latest example. Lib Dem Cabinet Office spokesperson @lisasmartmp.bsky.social has written to the police and the electoral commission asking them to investigate.
