Running a GenAI app locally with OpenAI SDK + Docker Model Runner? Yes, please. This demo uses Next.js + Docker Compose to serve up an LLM chatbot (Qwen 2.5) with hardware acceleration on Apple Silicon. Local, fast, secure. Watch it go! @wittek.dev #Docker #JavaScript #NextJS #LLM #AI #OpenAI

Wanted to reboot my blog and was pondering the options. Self-hosting a static site would be okayish, but I also don't really want to yak shave the whole thing. I used to like Substack, but it just is becoming an increasingly weird platform thingie. So maybe giving Ghost a try?

I don't really know what to do about all the different social media sites. More and more folks are following me here, but I am not really using it. Maybe I should rotate through the different networks on a weekly basis :D (bsky, X, LinkedIn, Mastodon...)

Oh look, it's me!

This project is key to Java. We need a notebook to bring Java towards students, scientists,... and help them doing research/POC's in the same language that can later be used in production systems where performance/stability/scaling/security is key.

For my mental health, I usually refrain from commenting on politics. Today, I feel compelled to break this rule and speak out. In Germany, history revisionists yell their devoid phrases from the chancel, echoed by those who struggle with recent politics and are afraid of the future. 🧵 1/8

Google Gemini for Workspace requires an enterprise tier subscription to turn off. It's the best economic story for their AI. I didn't expect them to find it, but they did because after billions of dollars and decades of ML work Google has finally created a self-aware product manager.

The fact that is is on published in the MS org is the 🤯 thing. Also cute: > You can also configure markitdown to use Large Language Models to describe images.

To everyone who's been in IT for a while: Which hype cycles have set your project(s) off course for a few months because management believed not doing it would disrupt the business? And how did it turn out?

I shared this story a couple years ago. I hope to never lose my enthusiasm about the joy of programming. I hope this story motivates others to tell theirs, even if it's just to their friends and family. We may not be rockstars, but we are creators and magicians. 🙏 donraab.medium.com/the-joy-of-p...

Tonight, I took a stab at writing a Spring AI application using the new MCP support module. It's only slightly different from the simple SQLite example, but this one uses the Google Maps MCP server to answer questions about locations. Check it out: github.com/habuma/sprin...

If there is some end-of-the-year learning budget you feel like spending, which is some content you would suggest? Can be books, courses, whatever. And regarding topics, anything related to IT, AI, or even management and leadership :)

What are "timeless" resources about AI/ML (including foundational and historic stuff) you would recommend? Currently "Deep Learning" by Goodfellow and "Artificial Intelligence: A Modern Approach" seem to fit this bill for me.

Using Spring Boot with Testcontainers? We've improved support so that your test setup is more lean. `@AutoConfigureTestDatabase` now detects containers and will automatically use that! If you need to revert to the old behavior, set `replace=Replace.AUTO_CONFIGURED)` on the annotation.
