all these years later i still think a tumblr archive grid is hard to beat as a way to just inhale a set of visual ideas. i could talk about this at frightening length but i don't think what's left of my reputation would withstand it

it's a shame they nerfed the site so badly for not-logged-in users, especially those on mobile. i think if they played further into its usefulness as a site builder (for stores or portfolios) it could be competing with like cargo right now. but instead they focused on it as a walled garden of freaks

Never really thought about the buried cynicism of the Turing test. That something ‘may as well be’ whatever it is (possibly falsely) perceived to be. Just because my mom can’t tell the difference between Nickelback and Napalm Death doesn’t mean they may as well be the same band.

I get the argument that once it seems likely something is conscious, then potentially it’s cruel to deny it. But since when did that stop us from living out a beautiful tapestry of cruel behavior daily? We’re randomly gonna be nice to something that *might* care?

Parked on the block where our car got broken into a while ago. The thief broke the smallest and most easily replaceable window, left the pipe they used, and stole an inoperable 2012 iMac (which was hidden under a quilt)

Somehow only saw Penda's Fen for the first time last night. For many reasons I felt this weird dialogue with it and Evangelion. The long holds on stills, wandering gnomic conversations about esoteric religion, wimpy teen in boxy dress shirt with mop hair...

I see how some chuckles could come from the Italian actors scenes etc. and my group all admitted we do laugh at Nicholson in the shining and the part where the kid gets her block knocked off in hereditary. But this was odd

my position since 'finding frances' has been that NF uses humor to cover the gaps in his filmmaking and high-concept crap to cover the gaps in his jokes. he critic-proofs by making sure there's always some degree of both so you can't say he's failing at either.
