Xbox Ally X annoyance #329: If I press the Xbox button in Steam Big Picture Mode, it simultaneously opens the Game Bar overlay and the Steam menu. I tried disabling the Game Bar shortcut in Windows settings, and now the entire gamepad is disabled in Steam?!??!

I am once again begging Microsoft to make a PC handheld where you can actually play a game within 10 minutes of turning it on for the first time (like the Steam Deck)

It was just fully frozen on this screen btw, after taking about an hour to install updates, and maybe 10 minutes of clicking through logins and random-ass questions, often with extra friction due to the gamepad controls. Bad enough on a PC with mouse+keyboard, absolutely unacceptable for a handheld.

"From 16th September, we're updating how points convert into Papa Dough. Currently, 20 points converts to £3 Papa Dough but from 16th September every 10 points will automatically convert to £1 Papa Dough." This is not "enjoy papa dough sooner", this is "our rewards system was accidentally too good"

Really enjoyed Gamescom Live! Lots of cool/weird new stuff (Lego Skylines, Warlock: D&D, No Law, Tarae, Showa American Story, Tides of Annihilation) and a well-chosen remake (HoMM3). The prospect of a free Witcher 3 remaster, a Rainbow Six tactics game and a Game of Thrones RTS is awesome too.

DOOM '98 Imagined what if id Software released an additional entry in the Doom series in 1998, using a technological mix between id Tech 2 and GoldSrc engine. Going for the blend of fantastical and grounded, which would be in vein of Half-Life and System Shock 2.
