Why do the captions on the Musk trailer say this? Like the words spoken are “creating the department of DOGE” — one syllable. How does that translate to “donated organs”? Weird autocorrect?

I hate this so much

Progressive Turnout Project, which raised $43M during the first 18 months of the current election cycle, has sent fundraising emails this week that says that "with only 59 days until the midterms almost nobody (NOBODY) donated to destroy Trump’s House Majority."

My Mom always told me about this event with Steinem at Keene State. I can't remember the details and she can't either. She either sat on stage with Steinem or picked her up at the airport. But my mom ended up running for office that year. We are linked, not ranked.

When I called my mom to talk about it, she focused on what she always does -- the fact that we have not had a female president. People with dementia repeat the same points and that's the one that she is most upset about.

Getting worked up about the way people responded to a colleague’s death was very annoying, treating responses like a litmus test. I think it is a normal human response to remember the best of people who have just died.

Ten years ago, I might still have hope that this would matter to people. It doesn’t! People don’t actually care that much about sexual assault. He’ll be a guest on Bill Maher with Louis CK and Al Franken very soon, and anyone who cared will be chastised as the woke left ruining the D party.

I think it still is! I think there are a lot of cool 250 things happening at every level of govt and many cool efforts that we can still contribute to!

The great American state fair being stupid Trump bullshit does legit make me sad, if I’m being honest. A lot of the 250 stuff does. This could have been a really cool and special thing and literally any normal president would have pulled it off.

Getting myself organized! By going through a bag that had stuff from Midwest 2023. Revival no longer exists? I have no idea if there is $ on these gift cards but sorry to the JAWS crew for embezzlement?

One way that we can demonstrate with actual evidence that students used AI is by checking for reference hallucinations. Tip -- if you check out the TurnItIn score, you can easily spot "citations" that don't exist.

Can hackers *please* put their efforts into something cool that would help me? Rather than throw a complete curve ball into my last day of teaching? On the day after my birthday? Vibes are so off, hackers.

Being the lowest paid employee at a progressive organization in my early 20s jaded me a lot, and I interacted with a lot of people who I found to be, personally, assholes. You learn a lot about a person by seeing how they treat you, a non-important person.

Dr. Abdul El-Sayed was genuinely very nice. Very good vibes. Earnest, engaged, interested -- without any perceived motive other than being nice. This was about 15 years ago. MOTWYW.

My mom has taken this cognitive test many times. She still doesn’t do too poorly! She also emailed me “happy birthday” today (it’s not my birthday). Please choose your words carefully when talking about cognitive decline. It’s a sensitive topic for those of us facing it with our favorite people.

Trump: "I took three cognitive tests. Aced all of them, by the way. I'm the only president to take a cognitive test. I don't think Obama could pass it. The first question is very easy -- it's a lion, a giraffe, a bear, and a shark. They say, 'Which one is the bear?'"

“Ye” is my husband’s second cousin (or so?) and my sister-in-law told me years ago “we don’t claim him”

The New York Times@nytimes.com

In @nytopinion.nytimes.com Many of Ye’s fans “may not see the point of condemning their favorite musician for his hate speech in an age when few other public figures have decorum,” Andre Gee writes.

I really dig the new James Blake album. It feels comprehensive of his style, but some new kinda 90s-era vibes? “I’m an eyesore / you’re a sight for / sore eyes” is such a good line that I can’t believe it didn’t already exist. For these trying times, I recommend Trying Times

It seems like higher ed convos about AI and LLMs have completely forgotten how destructive the widespread use is for the environment. We are in a massive drought in OK, the west is out of water/on fire — am I supposed to just forget about the resource extraction aspect of this bullshit?

Spring break! Which is the one-year anniversary of visiting my parents and putting my dad in the hospital and him dying. I’ve been doing *so* well for months, but this is going to be super hard.

The Anthropic situation has led me to believe that many current international conflicts are the result of men wanting to play with their new war toys (I am not a conflict scholar)

How about this: if you didn’t post anything when the Iranian regime killed tens of thousands of Iranians protesting for freedom in the streets, maybe you should refrain on commenting on Iran today esp if your comment is “concern for Iranians.” Honestly, it makes you look cynical and heartless.

I feel EXTREME RAGE when my gmail fully drafts an email from "me" like I'm a mindless drone. Never would I write, "Wow! That's a lot of snow!" to a family member telling me about their hip replacement surgery. We should turn off the internet for a bit, like a week for starters. The Pitt style.
