The ICE agent seen brandishing an AR-15 at the scene of yesterday’s shooting in NYC’s Marble Hill has a record of lying, excessive force & getting caught by judges. He also goes by “Shooter Cuni” on social media, & posts the same gun he had on him today W/@dmehro.bsky.social @regret.bsky.social

Replying to @awalkerinla.bsky.social

This story is particularly poignant after park advocates successfully won more funding. But we still need and deserve so much more

Alissa Walker@awalkerinla.bsky.social

I can't even believe I'm writing this. Somehow. Somehow? SOMEHOW! 14 councilmembers did the right thing today and voted to *double* the parks department charter allocation. It's still not enough. But for advocates to go into this meeting preparing to settle for .0485% and getting .065% wow

When people complain about paywalls, they're essentially saying they want people like Scott Pelley to work for free. Journalists are amazing and we need them more than ever. We should be willing to pay for news.

I'm hearing reports that the NY State Assembly just passed the plug-in solar vote by a wide margin, joining the State Senate. Assuming the governor signs it, that will be the 8th state making it legal (and the biggest). A groundswell across the country, and so many thanks to great organizers!

For nearly a decade, the Pentagon was warned—by its own contractors, analysts, and intelligence agencies—that anyone with a credit card could buy a map of where American troops sleep, work, and store nuclear weapons. Now the bill has come due in a war zone. My latest at @wired.com

wired.comThe Pentagon Knew Enemies Could Track Troops’ Phones for Years. Now They AreThe US military has long known that cheap fixes could stop location data from exposing its troops. It adopted almost none—and now says adversaries are using the data to target soldiers during a war.

damn are there any journalists out there writing about the voting rights act with a climate or environmental lens? struggling to find reporters focused on this crucial intersection. i wanna interview them for an upcoming piece!
