You or someone you know probably believes misinformation about natural gas; polling shows HALF of likely voters think it’s a clean fuel. We made this episode to try and debunk some of that misinformation, but also to explore the decades-long propaganda campaign fueling it. Pls like/share!
Was great going on Heated's podcast with @emorwee.bsky.social & @tracywholf.bsky.social to unpack why smart people believe that natural gas is a climate solution and the long campaign that got us there. heated.world/p/why-smart-...

Natural gas is NOT "clean." So why do 50% of likely voters believe that is is?? @emorwee.bsky.social and @rebleber.bsky.social unpack how Big Oil spent decades convincing people that this polluting fossil fuel was safe — and how that myth secured its successful takeover of our energy system. 😑

“Americans over 60 now spend more than half their leisure hours in front of screens.”
Consistently, if I’m in a public space and hear someone watching videos on their phone at full volume without headphones, I will turn and see that the offender is at least 60 years old.

Betting the House is a pop-up collaboration of journalists reporting on what the climate crisis means for the places we call home. As extreme weather events become more frequent and severe, the questions around where we live, and how it will be affected by a warming planet, become more pointed.

In 2024, Miami was ranked as the most climate-threatened city in the Americas. Yet, in July alone this year, sales of $1 million homes in Miami-Dade County were up 15% from the year before. What are home buyers being told about climate risk? Heated's @emorwee.bsky.social posed as one to find out...

I gave a talk yesterday at a clean tech in incubator, and this was literally my thesis.
I don’t understand the hand-wringing reaction to claims that nueral networks have a 10% chance of destroying civilisation. Fossil fuel companies have a 100% chance of initiating a mass extinction event. Maybe we could address that?

Reporters in climate-threatened areas everywhere should just start asking about the risk at open houses. I’d read 100 of these stories
Would love to see this done with estate agents in coastal zones in Ireland destined to erode into the sea and have devastating flooding. We should have a climate risk assessment done for houses for sale much like their energy rating. not much good if its A++ but likely to be swallowed by extremes
