Politicians around the world seem to forget that their obeying the law and following the will of the people is in the end a social contract. People need to periodically remind them that if they don’t submit to legal processes, including elections, there are more primal ways to replace our leaders.

Really looking forward to all the events and pushes by Dems and Dem voters this week before the US midterm voting. Should counteract Trump’s no-holds-barred roadshow and the interference that will undoubtedly ramp up this week. Glad it’s been well thought-out and planned.

🚨DENSON V DONALD J TRUMP FOR PRESIDENT IS GOING TO TRIAL!! Hi! Yes, I’m the one who invalidated all those illegal Trump NDAs. First one to sue, last one standing. This is for my underlying retaliation claim for *accountability* that was wrongfully dismissed 3 weeks after Trump came back into office

Americans, protect your ballot boxes and protect your voting sites. Check your registration before, take a pic of your vote, and check your vote after.

1) Make Ukraine part of the EU. 2) Spend more to make IRIS happen faster. Europe can’t wait until 2030.

Zelensky confirms that the Trump/Musk operation to hobble both Ukraine's civilian defenses and operations at the front by limiting StarShield to below 161km/hr continues. Musk is a mass murderer.

From this Canadian’s perspective, 1) The idea of adding judges to tip the current majority does seem particularly short-sighted. What about when the Republicans own 7 out of 13? Add more? Not to mention, “let’s add more players so we can win the game” seems distinctively American.

Calls for expanding #SCOTUS are entirely (and increasingly) understandable. But as today's "One First" explains, there are at least four difficult questions that those who support expansion should have to answer—especially as compared to other possible reforms: www.stevevladeck.com/p/bonus-257-...

2) The fact that 9 judges is a “norm” and not codified is somewhat terrifying in itself and perhaps a reflection of how your government has been a house of cards for some time now, based too much on goodwill and gentlemen’s agreements. Trump is revealing just how bullshit a lot of it has been.

3) A majority can happen with one person tipping the scales. That can happen with 9, 13 or 23. Adding more people to the club doesn’t change that unless they’re not really judges but representatives. Reforms that restore some degree of neutrality will get you farther than numbers in the long run.

Hey look, Jeff is weighing in with self-generated data and "both sides" shit disturbing:

Jen Hernandez, and people like her, may just decide who controls Congress this year. Hernandez, 43, is Mexican-American, millennial, married, and lives in a small city in Colorado. In 2016, she voted for comedian Roseanne Barr. In 2020, she backed Biden, and in 2024 Jill Stein. 🧵

Still thinking about Lanterns, whether they’re going to bring back Hal/ KC, and whether the series can be as good without their duality. And no, Fillion can’t do it, just no.

Now that Americans have figured out all the ways Trump plans to cheat at the midterms, does anyone have a plan for when he refuses to recognize the results, or refuses to use Congress for anything, or just keeps moving ahead with Project 2025 anyway?

It’s exactly what they wanted to do with Anthony Fauci. A smear job and witch hunt, to get revenge on behalf of Trump. It’s not a party, it’s a cabal.

Anyone notice that Trump doesn’t seem particularly bothered about losing all the voter roll lawsuits in the blue states? Is that because he’s really just conspiring with Republican state reps to keep their seats and the majority?

I’m sorry, Curry seems like a nice guy and super talented obv, but there’s nothing noble about choosing to keep working in California for $60m a year with the team you know you can win with. Stop putting athletes on pedestals and they won’t let you down over and over.

The White House press corps that is still allowed access has an important decision to make: toe the line and hope they don’t get picked off next, not toe the line and get picked off next, or show solidarity with their peers. This is not about strategy, it’s about solidarity.

Allison Gill@muellershewrote.com

Curious as to what you think. Should all the journalists walk out and stop covering the White House? That would leave all the right wing nuts there, and I think it would be what Trump wants. But what kind of coverage can he get if the majors aren't there? Regardless, everyone should sue. Thoughts?

If we want others to have our backs, we have to have theirs. It’s not about the impact it will have on the WH, it’s about the impact we have on each other when we do or don’t stand in solidarity. It’s a choice many Americans are faced with right now.
