Reminder that Vivek, along with JD, were part of Amy Chua’s universe at Yale Law School. She really managed to gather and elevate some of the worst people.

My immigrant energy — “Try really hard, even if you suck at it” — is equally part of the American experience

I fully believe that this is Wayne's culture, because it's recognizably lower class white culture of the kind that JD Vance correctly excoriated in Hillbilly Elegy. However, it's not American culture or even PMC white culture. It's just hick culture.

Fauci accuses Rand Paul of having an "unhinged obsession with calling for my prosecution" and of making "repeated slanderous comments," then says "although it pains me to do so... under advice of my attorneys, I will invoke my right under the 5th Amendment to refrain from answering your questions."

Dr. Fauci is a hero. He really is. He helped guide America thru a mass death event. Millions more could have died but they did not, thanks to him. Everyone over 70 owes him a debt. It is disgusting that we live in a country that not only dishonors him but actively smears his good name.

Even though the 10th Circuit's recent decision on immigration detention pointed to a bond hearing as the remedy, Senior Judge William Martínez of Colorado is still out here ordering people's immediate release because he doesn't trust the government to provide a fair bond hearing:

I wrote to the President, Provost, and General Counsel, and I signed the Stand Up for Yale letter that has been making the rounds. Yale should not fold to Trump Administration extortion. It’s as simple as that.

🚨🚨URGENT CALL TO ACTION: Calling ALL Yale Students, Alumni, Faculty, and Staff!!🚨🚨 According to The New York Times, Yale has reportedly entered settlement discussions with the U.S. Department of Justice over allegations involving admissions at the Yale School of Medicine.

Zero (0) of Epstein's victims had the ability to self-fund litigation against Epstein or anyone like him. The only way they had any chance is through contingency fee representation. Everyone in Big Law knows that, they sneer at it anyway because they know it's morally superior to their work.

Blake Emerson@blakeprof.bsky.social

Not the main point, but this is a real window into the elite law bias against contingency fees, which is the only way most non-rich people can get lawyers in civil matters. Particularly galling from Ruemmler, who decided the best thing to do after serving in the White House was to sell out

No, Tina Peters should not have had her sentence commuted. She broke Colorado laws and was convicted by a jury of her peers. Here’s my statement:

Calling it: hackish professors will begin inventing arguments for presidential pardons to reach state crimes, just like they did in the birthright citizenship context.

This is how Sen. Ron Wyden clues the public into activity that he finds extremely alarming. He does a press release about a letter he sent to the director of the CIA that basically says, 'I want to make sure you saw the classified letter I sent early today.' www.wyden.senate.gov/imo/media/do...

I was one of Alex's nursing faculty at MCTC. This is simply devastating. He was a good student and I knew he'd be a good nurse. Im so sorry for you and his VA family. May his memory be a blessing and an example of what a nurse is.

Alex Pretti was a colleague at the VA. We hired him to recruit for our trial. He became an ICU nurse- I lover working with him. He was a good kind person who lived to help and these fuckers executed him. White. Hot. Rage.

I feel like the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting--where twenty children and six educators were killed--marked a turning point. The Republican Party decided it would no longer pretend to care about how many people were killed using guns. It essentially crossed the Rubicon toward not giving a damn.

What’s the point of having power if not to use it to stand up for those who are more vulnerable? That time is now Dems! When the racist goes after your colleague

Even in this dark timeline, it's amusing that the Administration has a knack for choosing the wrong people to mess with. James Comey, Letitia James, the good people of Chicago, and now Mark freaking Kelly.

This is utter insanity. We know that PFAS resist degradation and contaminate soil, groundwater, and surfacewater. We know that exposures, even at very low levels, are highly harmful. And we're intentionally spraying it on food crops grown on some of America's most valuable agricultural land.

The EPA is moving forward with approvals for pesticides containing “forever chemicals” as an active ingredient, dismissing concerns about health and environmental impacts raised by some scientists and activists. Here’s what to look out for:

Two things I learned at YLS are: 1) many elites see in-group solidarity as superseding civic responsibility 2) the more powerful the person, the more unhinged their email style So yeah let’s just say I’m not that surprised about the news today

Most Americans are trying their darndest to live honest, good lives. All the while, their prospects for a decent life are being destroyed by the sorts of elites who cavorted with Jeff Epstein. What is wrong with America?

Yume Hoshijima reposted

‘Russiagate’ was one thing. The Epstein files are another. Except, actually, they’re not. This email suggests there could be a deal between Trump and Putin, a quid pro quo, facilitated by Epstein and Lavrov. Things make more sense now, like Trump’s red carpet welcome for Putin in Alaska.

All they got in exchange: "Senate Majority Leader John Thune is promising Senate Democrats a vote in December to extend Affordable Care Act subsidies that are due to expire at the end of the year short of Congressional action. Democrats will also get to determine what extension bill gets a vote."

Good news for transgender people at MIT. Unlike some prestigious universities, MIT has defied the Trump administration and refused its attempt to pressure the university into banning transgender people from bathrooms. The latest from reporter S. Baum. Subscribe to support our journalism.

It disturbs me how many of my Yale Law School classmates are working for this Administration. I learn of another one every week. A shameful and cynical choice that should be a permanent black mark for them after democracy prevails.

Presidents? SCOTUS gives them immunity. Corporations? SCOTUS makes it easier for them to pollute. Billionaires? SCOTUS says they can buy elections. But if you look Latino, speak Spanish, or work at a low wage job, SCOTUS says you can be abducted by masked agents. The legacy of the Roberts court.

the case against comey is an illegal, selective, vindictive prosecution. Trump vowed vengeance and retribution; prosecutors concluded there was no case against comey; Trump forced out the prosecutors & replaced them with a loyalist who got an indictment. The case should be dismissed before trial.
