I really enjoy the sense of power I get from telling companies to fuck off into oblivion when they show/send me simping "are you sure you want to cancel your subscription?" messages. Yes, I have never been more sure of anything in my life. Thank you for letting me self actualize.

I’ve been using “lima” to manage VMs and every time I see “lima” I read “ligma.” I can’t tell anyone at work because they’re actual professionals, so here you go, internet. #deardiary

We’re hosting our first Flox User Online Meetup 🚀 Zach will walk us through Flox services and we'll cover: - How to add background processes to your environment with services - Making reusable services with composition - How services work under the hood Sign up: buff.ly/g9SkbRi

This is a big feature we’ve been working on for a bit and it’s really cool. You essentially get a private, language-agnostic software repository integrated with your developer environment.

We are excited to share Flox 1.5! With this pivotal release, users can build packages and publish them into the Flox Catalog for the first time. New subcommands have been added and there is a new section in the manifest to define package outputs. See buff.ly/PbGR2VH for downloads and release notes.

On top of that, you now have the ability to perform builds where *you* choose where you land on the rigor vs effort spectrum. No need to use Nixpkgs helper functions, just use the same commands you already know to build your software.

New blog post about a @flox.dev feature I worked on that I've wanted since I joined the company two years ago: tinkering.xyz/flox-composi... This feature lets you compose developer environments, or prepare distinct, building-block envs and combine them for new projects. It's *so cool*. #Nix

tinkering.xyzComposition: the feature I've wanted in Flox since I joined the companyFrom the moment I joined Flox, I knew that there was one feature I wanted: composition. This is the ability to build an environment out of other environments. Two years later we finally built out this...

As an official #eink stan, there’s a strong urge to buy an E-ink monitor and develop a #hyprland theme that works well for grey scale displays. I’ve been on a real “reducing distractions” kick lately. I’ve been sick all week and decided to leave my Apple Watch off, and feel so much better.

Nix represents a different way of building reproducible software, but Nix has its own challenges, and in many ways Docker already won. So what hope is there for something like Nix in the long run? Come find out tomorrow at the @flox.dev virtual event.

We are hosting a live event this Wednesday with @kelseyhightower.com and Ron Efroni from the Nix Foundation: Why Nix, and Why Now? If you've heard of Nix ❄️ and total software flexibility appeals to you, but you don't know where to start... start here!

Decided to try out Amazon’s AI thing today and asked it to find me products similar to an $8 USB-A reading light but with USB-C. Its recommendation was a $140 monitor light bar. Cool, good job.

One of the most fun things you can do when you’re into #whiskey, #wine, #coffee etc is taste things blind. Without someone to pour for me I’ve made a bunch of blind samples and a few spreadsheets so that I can blind taste a bunch of stuff on my own.
