I emailed Patrick Healy, assistant managing editor for standards and trust at NYT, to ask why their story about a House report with new details of rape allegations against the President of the United States included neither those details, nor a single use of the word "rape." archive.is/1s9AM

Probably should be bigger news on MSM and the short form apps that there’s even *more* evidence the president is a mass rapist and likely pedophile but democrats are Tran’s taxes or something.

this is just insanely damning stuff when you lay it all out democrats-judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-su...

Fun fact: Bibi's main foe in the Israeli elections tomorrow, Gadi Eisenkot, invented the "Dahiya doctrine": flattening "every village from which shots will be fired in the direction of Israel. We will wield disproportionate power and cause immense damage and destruction."

I can’t imagine how different life east of the Van Wyck is. Inconceivable that they live in the same city as me.

Meantime, O Reader, not yet seeing the truth of this, why is it that you have undertaken the study of logic? You may have some excellent reasons which are peculiar to your personal relations to science and to life. But in addition to these, there are certain reasons which you must have,

My child is special because: 1. Was reading the odyssey in the original Greek at age 6 2. Has ridden the circle line more times than anyone else ever has 3. At age 12 was independent enough to go on a series of adventures around London seeking a father figure #TheLastSamurai

I managed to go through the day without seeing this until now. I didn't we still had new information coming out from the Epstein files. Trump is a rapist and the entire Republican party is committed to covering for him.

Amanda Marcotte@amandamarcotte.bsky.social

This report is genuinely overwhelming, in terms of the evidence both against Trump and of a ham-fisted cover-up. Including one instance in which Ghislaine Maxwell was actually about to mention one of Trump's young accusers and Todd Blanche told her to stop talking. The media response is "yawn."

i don't think anyone should run explicitly on banning online gambling but i do think that a democratic-led government should just quietly take steps to undermine the industry and create an inhospitable regulatory environment

Lula won in part by banning online gambling

I mean it’s possible that having to engage with the worst piece of software ever written on a near daily basis is affecting my QoL

Wild article and also kinda the fault of the American consumer for being content with slop? I basically only buy Tony’s Chocolate these days.

America's Highway Trust Fund spends far more than it brings in in gas and truck taxes, and the US constantly bails the fund out from the federal general fund and by taking out loans. The Bay Area will pay ~$1.3B/year to bail out the fund yet again, starting in 2028. From @maxmautner.com.

I know someone who lived out of his car in grad school at a public university in California — not because it was impossible to afford housing but because its just a smart financial decision in a world where the school has plentiful parking spots given away at nominal cost but scarce housing.

Eddy Conroy@econroy.bsky.social

The article is rightly more nuanced than this post. The main driver of that headline figure is housing. Yes tuition is a challenge, but it’s not what has pushed cost of attendance over $50k.

the big problem with AI stuff is that to anyone older than 40 it is inconceivable that a billion dollar industry doesn’t net a consumer product worth a billion dollars. Like they think Silicon Valley people are making a billion in sales, not that 12 people are paying them a billion to make it.
