People have a problem of being overly self-aware of social and entertainment tropes, so when they see these in real life outside of their boring, monotonous lives, they perceive them as references to media.

They begin to consume the world around them as if it were media. In turn, they forget that these things are inherent to the human experience, that they exist, and can be independently experienced.

People start treating cool things in reality the same way they consume media, forgetting how to live presently and genuinely as part of these experiences. Consumerism becomes their reality.

Thread: I’d like to share one of my favourite artists. I suspect, based on the way he painted the male nude & his subject matter, that he may have been LGBTQ. Dirck van Baburen (c1595-1624) was one of the Golden Age Dutch painters. He is interesting in combining Baroque art with personal expression.

Art and media are like furniture. People gather around them to use for creative, personal expression, for a common goal of enjoying it and being inspired by it as a stepping stone for friendships and relationships. Sexual expression and tools of identity, and general learning.

The way people place and are inspired by vases and plants or flowers on a table. They are a collective luxury that is manipulated into a wealth of community resources and expression. A cultural monument to creativity and collective experience.
