Kid got a bearded lizard. He's cool. The roaches we have to order in the mail and feed him? Significantly less cool. This last batch of roaches were big enough that I could hear them chittering inside the box. I was not prepared for this.

As someone who has never had a TZ-related ticket get through QA without needing at least one bug fix, this might be the most rational thing I’ve seen an AI say.

Pete Hegseth is so morally bankrupt that even Trump knows better.

Inflation is up again. Not because of a pandemic. Not because of a natural disaster. Because of Trump’s war, tariffs, and corporate tax breaks. It really is this simple: Republicans took over, and then drove up the cost of living in America.

Once again, if Democrats would normalize firearm ownership and use, we could nullify the right's chokehold on 2A rhetoric. Also I should get back into trap shooting.

A great start to pheasant season. Thanks to Dale, Anna, Joel, Jamie, DJ, and the wonderful Northfield community for having me out.

Ooh now that I have an ADHD diagnosis, do I get to have opinions on people who use “neurospicy” for neurodivergence? Because I have one. I think it’s weird and I’m not gonna use it to describe myself but you do you. … I didn’t say it was a hot take or anything.

Trent Reznor’s “Year Zero” ARG talked about a war between the US and Iran, including LA (and Seattle) getting attacked, but I don’t think anyone expected reality to be this goddamn stupid.

Trump suggesting he would let Iran take out San Diego or Los Angeles is absolutely absurd. There’s just never a bottom with this administration.

Lost the championship game. I’m sad, but this team played their hardest. We were simply outmatched. Glad to have my weekends back but I’m a little sad the season’s over. Might throw my hat in the ring to be a head coach again in the spring.

Looking at you, Plainfield McDonald's. I will never forgive you for that raw McChicken, or my kid puking all night after the last time we ate there. No dynamic pricing discounts will convince me to go back.

Put my Triumph Sprint GT up for sale on consignment at a local dealer. Looked at the used bikes section of the dealer's website and thought "oh neat, another Sprint GT." I am not smart.

Favorite story: I'd only ridden cruisers and naked bikes, so I was used to getting pushed around by the wind at on the highway. Wasn't used to having fairings and a wind screen. The day I brought this bike home, the highway was mostly empty but the few cars that were out were driving reeeaally slow.

Then I looked down at the speedometer. Turns out I was doing 110mph. Had NO idea. This bike didn't care if you were ripping through a canyon or a stretch of empty desert interstate - it just wanted to go. fucking. fast.

I hope someone buys it. It deserves to get used for touring and not dry rotting in my garage. I’m gonna miss it, though.

Holy shit. ADHD drugs are cool. This is the best and most focused I've felt in years. Let's see how work goes tomorrow. Also, weird but nice side effect: I complimented like three people on their outfits while on a Costco run.

That would’ve been super cool to know 26 years ago when I was failing every other class in college. I mean, that was because I was partying waaay too hard, but it still would have been nice to know.

I took an adhd test and they said they’d get me the results this afternoon and I haven’t gotten them yet and I’m stressing out IS THIS PART OF THE TEST

Alert ⚠️ An ICE officer shot 28-year-old Wilber Rafael Garces Perez in North Austin today after a traffic stop. He was shot in the torso and hospitalized in serious but stable condition. His attorney says Perez, a Venezuelan national, entered the U.S. legally and had a valid work permit.

I’ve been trying to come up with something to say about the whole Macklemore/Ed Sheeran thing but I feel like losing all his opening acts AND his backing band is better than whatever I’d come up with. Also Miss Rachel is awesome.

I mean there’s also a million other horrible things happening in this country right now but still

First day as a head coach of a little league baseball team in the books. Nobody got sent to the ER, no parents screamed at me. Gonna count today as a win, despite the 0-1 score.

Also, I told a kid who’d never played catcher before to use his glove but trust his gear to keep him safe. Dude IMMEDIATELY took a pitch to the face guard. Didn’t flinch. I asked if he was good, he gave me a thumbs up, and put his glove up for the next pitch. Kids are great.

Turns out one of my kids likes Ghosts n Stuff by deadmau5 featuring Rob Swire. Also likes Monophobia (also by deadmau5 featuring Rob Swire) and Blood Sugar by Pendulum (Rob Swire’s band). Does not like any other electronica. Go figure.

Also had the realization that I’m going “hey check out this music I listened to in high school” while blasting Breathe by The Prodigy, which would be the equivalent of my dad putting on Chubby Checker or something, and I don’t know how I feel about this.

“Hey kid, you wanna listen to some classics?” Now playing: korn_-_freak_on_a_leash_128kbps.mp3

Hey you guys wanna hear about my 183 day CPAP usage streak? Because my CPAP’s companion app thinks you do. For some reason.

7 year old asked what smelling salts were, since they use them in one of the Sonic movies. As a former powerlifter, I still have some stashed down in my gym stuff, so I got an ampule, cracked it, and let him take a whiff. He is not happy with me.

Printing PLA at speeds it's not rated for is causing some odd artifacts but I paid for 300mm/s so I'm gonna USE 300mm/s.

Turns out one of those artifacts is the layers delaminating with a bit of pressure, so that was a waste of filament. Figured out a good pattern for buckles, though, so that's cool.

Republicans: we're gonna gerrymander the shit out of this country Republicans: wait, not like that

Introduced the twins to The Distillers' "Oh Serena" because I couldn't figure out what "play cinna!" meant (I still don't know) and now all I want is to be on a patio with a beer and a cigarette listening to Sing Sing Death House. I don't smoke. Or drink. Don't know why it sounds appealing.

If I make roughly twice as much as I did in 2010 but a steak burrito with guac from Chipotle burrito also costs twice as much as it did back then, am I really better off?

I don’t know if I’m still sick or if one of my new meds works on a “you can’t have problems if you’re too tired to notice them” principle but I am TIRED.

Well, looks like LL Bean did the right thing.

Alt National Park Service@altnps.bsky.social

UPDATE: L.L.Bean YOUR voices were heard. After significant pushback from the outdoor community, L.L. Bean is joining the Save the Forest Service movement. Their LinkedIn statement says it all:

7 year old really wanted Mandalorian armor for Star Wars Day, so we have officially reached the "3d printed armor cosplay" and "bulk ordering filament" stages of 3d printer ownership.
