I suffer from cluster headaches, which are similar to, but distinct from migraines, and you would not believe how casually dismissive people are of the idea that there is anything that could even be close to as bad as a migraine.

Here's a fun game: when Harry Potter comes up, and someone inevitably says "Well, I was never into Harry Potter," ask them what if they were. It turns out people are weirdly unprepared to be asked, and unwilling to say if they would hypothetically give up a comfort source that was harmful to others.

My favorite thing to trigger #gamers with is condemning objective morality. Like, so many of them have clearly built their entire concept of themselves as a "good person" around some simplistic set of ideals that they formed in high school.

Like, they've built this entire sense or technical morality around "I can do this, as long as I don't do it in this way" to make themselves feel superior, and just freak out when you suggest that maybe morals with loopholes aren't actually morals.

"This remake is inviting new players into this world" is so condescending. Ohh wittle new players oooh you simply cannot handle playing games from 20 years ago...you're too wittle and dumb with your wittle brain

Sometimes I'm looking at some heteronormative bullshit and I'm like, this isn't even heteronormative. I can't even think of a word to describe the idea that women are objectively more attractive than men, other than misandrist, but like, the intent is never misandrist.

ive talked on how i wont engage with writers who use ai, i wont eat at a restaurant with an ai menu, i wont have anything to do with it. but what this post illustrates is regardless of how OTHERS react, ultimately the worst part about using ai is that you are punishing YOURSELF and dont even know it

cool, cool

Oh no, I just had a great/horrible idea for my FATAL parody game "Historically/Mythological A.C.C.U.R.A.T.E" All races has a set of maximum attributes, then you generate a percentage, which is applied to that racial maximum to determine scores... which are also percentages just to be confusing.

For those who haven't seen my previous posts on it, other highlights include rolling your character's age to the hour, and "Maximum Years Livable," in such a way that it is (intentionally) possible to roll a character who has died of old age.

One of my most decisive A/B tests ever. Personality and creativity: no. The most generic shit possible: yes.

Setting myself up for disappointment by once again putting actual work into a cool thumbnail, but then also doing an incredibly simple second one "just to see," then having the 10-minute effort be the one that's twice as effective.

The problem with the Dunning-Kruger effect is it assumes someone will continue gaining knowledge after believing themselves to be an instant expert, rather than assuming they've reached a point where their knowledge surpasses any other source and blasting of like a stupidity-powered rocket.

The comments of my latest video are really showing me that if anything I underestimated the amount of people who want to be respected for liking horror, but don't actually like horror. If there's no tension, it's not horror, it's spooky drama or fantasy, and not even good drama or fantasy.

The more I cover FATAL the less sure I am about whether Byron is racist, trolling, or just stupid. Like, after really getting into how he thinks numbers work, it seems more and more possible that he is actually just that oblivious to the implications of words and concepts he uses.

I rolled a statistically-unlikely number off 88s in the video I'm working on, and briefly considered shuffling the numbers around, but then I had a very important realization: I'm not in danger of being mistaken for a nazi.

I don't need to go out of my way to avoid every little thing that white supremacists have claimed ownership of, because I don't leave my position unclear. I don't have to worry about the number 88 showing up in my work, because I'm also not afraid to publicly condemn white supremacists.

If you're a "non-political" content creator, stop and ask yourself this very important question: could you use the number 1488 without people assuming you were trying to secretly signal to white supremacists? If not, maybe rethink what being "non-political" actually means.

So here's the problem, it doesn't matter if we "flip the house" in November. As long as there is a single republican left, all the democrats will continue bending over backwards to show how much they can compromise and "reach across the isle" like good little non-confrontational puppies.

Whenever I see those little "harmless" "cute" delivery robots I keep picturing a point in the near future where roads are for cars and sidewalks are autonomous delivery vehicles and it's literally impossible to walk or bike anywhere.

The problem with having skills and tools is you then have no excuse to not use them. Could I have just used this stock photo as is? Of course not. I have the skills and tools to adjust the contrast, brightness, color balance, and do countless other tweaks, so therefor must.

Given how open Wizards of the Coast has been about their attempts to manipulate the TTRPG market I genuinely have to wonder is if D&D is intentionally over-complicated. Because they are shady enough to do it, I'm just not sure if they're smart enough to do it.

Basically, making the game intentionally difficult does two things, both of which are stated goals of WotC. 1. Force personal investment. Learning the rules takes so much time and effort that players sunk cost themselves into playing D&D forever because they don't want to have wasted all the effort.

2. Creates resistance to other systems. WotC very clearly promotes D&D as a beginners' game, and having a captive audience who thinks that your overly-complicated piece of shit is in fact the easiest game on the market makes them afraid to even consider other games, assuming they're even worse.

One of the really fascinating things about Charlie Kirk is that his own people’s response to his death was so nakedly opportunistic that it’s like oh, ok, this guy is fair game for literally anything, he’s an object, and now his soul is trapped inside Grok for eternity.
