I just think it's dishonest to say that the politics are unavoidable on other platforms, but they are on X. Its *point* is its politics; you're just saying they exist at a level you find palatable. The guys who doxed my family aren't on the other platforms; they're followed by staff members on X.

More to the point — people who stayed on the platform don't realize how inured to extremism they've become. They regularly get exposed to trending topics, and amplified content from verified accounts, that they would have recoiled from just a few years ago. I don't miss anything *not* being there.

Then, of course, the most salient point: They pay a man who sold content of a 2-year-old being sexually abused, whose account Musk personally restored after the account was suspended. Millions of users saw the content, and thoey are still on the service, too. It's a paid CSAM distribution site.

I think a key thing illustrated by the linked post is a misapprehension that *volume and breadth* is the point of a social network. Why does anyone need to see John Ternus's PR posts? Or any given person? If you can find 1,000 cool people to follow on a given platform, you're good to go!
