As a developer I always have to wonder where they draw the line. I can’t even get an IDE without some form of generative AI built in. As time goes on, it’s gonna be a real uphill battle. Surely nobody cares if we use it to generate boilerplate stuff. I gotta write all that by hand? I have arthritis.

As a developer also, get over it. Save template repos. Use scripts or scaffolding libraries to create generators for common boilerplate. Basically every IDE has a way to turn off AI features via settings or config files.

He's using the tired disability angle to shill for ai. There's no reasoning with someone who wants to use ai and will justify it like this bsky.app/profile/nat-...

Being anti-AI with no nuance is definitively ableist. Only a fully able-bodied and able-minded person has the privilege to just ignore and not use modern generative AI.

If a piece of boilerplate code is so ubiquitous that AI can repeat it word-for-word, you can copy it from something that isn't a slop machine. I'm glad you're not out there building houses. You'd probably build the foundations out of foam

Congratulations on a successful release! Any chance you could add the N64's horizontal blur filter as an option for the original resolution mode? It's basically a directional blur filter that creates one averaged pixel between every real pixel. It would be a good option for extra authenticity.

I don't know the exact algorithm the console uses, but I've tried recreating the effect on still images using a stock bilinear filter in PDN, and it seems to add more blur than the console does. The effect seems closer to PhotoShop's Motion Blur filter. Screenshots labelled with alt text.
