Rather, they backed off bc reducing their advantage in red districts would backfire in the coming tidal wave midterms. They do wildly unpopular things all the time, but in service to gaining and holding power, they never risk it.

For now…they can bring it back between the election and January 2026

As a Georgian, I think it would be hard to gerrymander it any more than it already is! It’s ridiculous already!

At least in GA there seems to have been some sort of public involvement. In Texas, not so much… 😶

make NO mistake, they still plan on doing it. they just don't want ANOTHER issue to unite the people against them for this midterm.

But Georgia Republican voters *did* just give a primary Governor runoff win to an election denier (billionaire Rick Jackson). So, a qualifier to your statement might be "for now." I would love to see Blue Georgia crush Jackson in the general.

I guess that's a positive way to see things.

Here here. I am against the angry white voters looking to “take back” America. I know just what they are saying and find it morally repulsive. I love the emerging demographics of both Georgia and Virginia. I’m for a multiracial, liberal democracy, not white DEI.

Honesty works in all directions. The history of the 2020 scheme to steal the election is clear and the courage of Georgia Republicans was a key to holding democracy together. I’m not one of them and I’m not for them but I am honest enough to acknowledge what actually happened.

GA needs to be a model. Trump will declare the election rigged. He will wrap up the Insurrection by declaring Congress illegal. The DOJ, FBI, and DNI will find “potentially massive fraud”. Trump will ignore Congress. Or 1776 them. Then what? Wait for 2028?

The reason the ACLU is involved is Trump & Republicans are breaking it every single day. Confronting that is a job in and out of the courtroom.

I've heard that many of the racist redistricting dilutes far right I mean maga I mean republican strongholds, possibly making the new maps contrary to their purpose. I'm glad we don't have to take that risk in GA. For now ..

I wouldn’t doubt it, but I think a lot of this is they’re afraid to dilute their own votes and potentially lose more than they gain. The midterms are going to be a bloodbath.
