I keep seeing posts from Republicans pretending to be insulted by Barack Obama's Cheesecake Factory quip because most Americans supposedly think it serves haute cuisine. First, it does not. And you know that. Second, his remark wasn't about the food. It was about the over-the-top golden decor.

Apart from being a liar, a con man, a thief, a fascist sociopath, a rapist, a racist, an arrogant fool and the world's biggest asshole, there is absolutely nothing genuine about him.

Muslims didn’t storm the Capitol on January 6, try to steal an election, or overthrow our government. White Christian nationalists, racist militia groups, and rabid Trump supporters did. We need to stop pretending the biggest terrorist threat to this country is coming from somewhere else.

Trump just sided with Amy Acton’s mother. The resemblance is uncanny.

It took decades and multiple stages before Rome, for example, got to consolidated autocracy. But it was still more or less within a single lifetime, and things move faster now. We can't afford to neglect what the trendline means on that kind of timescale. Most of us will still be around for it.
