Trump's pushing the term "super intelligence" is stupid for many reasons (not least because "superintelligence" was already a term with a specific meaning in semi-technical and policy/philosophical discussions about AI). But now his bullying about it is reaching an Orwellian pitch.

Is there any doubt that Trump is not only stupid as hell but also crazy and completely out of his mind? Are there any other opinions on that?

Yep, and it is forcing USG agencies to use this term even when it is incorrect usage. I think back to those freedom of speech absolutists. They regulate speech now more than any college campus ever did.

Okay but the whole reason this is happening is because Trump wants credit for naming it so as to stake claim for having contributed to the rise of AI, correct?

to be fair when that loon points a finger at THE ENEMY, I don't expect somebody might get fired, more likely somebody could get trafficked to El Salvador

This is a combination of him getting paid by AI companies and being desperate to hype it and his syphilitic narcissistic authoritarian brain demanding that all people must speak like him at all times.

This sort of thing, forcing adherence/compliance of stupid terminology/naming, creates more opportunity for ordinary people to find conflict in ordinary conversation. Referring to something, otherwise apolitical, like a lake, becomes an allegiance test.

expecting people to use language differently is a very common everyday occurrence. trying to enforce the personal language preferences of an extremely stupid man with the power of the state is a different problem.

The practical danger is that contractors start treating ordinary technical language as a loyalty test. That makes public communication less precise—and gives political approval priority over clarity.
