A repeal of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 would be a good start to paying down the debt. Assuming they would USE increased tax revenue to do so.

The only way of going about a tariff policy the responsible way is to refund the money, but it should be monthly, akin to a carbon tax and rebate policy. The "debt" shouldn't even be called that. They are issued assets.

Paying down the debt is not a smart thing to do with tariff money and it doesn’t help any Americans that need help. The smartest thing is not to have tariffs. The second smartest is to give it to poor people or fund programs that help the poor. Anything else is nonsense.
