It should be a bipartisan goal to have a system that makes it much more clear who have the right to stay in the US and who do not. And if if you dont have the right it should be impossible to work, get a driving licence etc. Immigration is good and almost all support it. But must be legal.

This exact situation highlights a major, ongoing structural issue in U.S. immigration policy. It leaves parents with a agonizing catch-22: hand over your data and risk immediate arrest and deportation, or refuse to provide the data and leave your child trapped in government custody.
