Reservists are more likely to be needed by state Governors when trying to deal with emergencies of any type. Such as, defending their citizens from ICE, enforcing the results of elections, etc. If you have nefarious plans, destroying any civilian force that could stop you is a priority strategy.

Yep. I registered 36 years ago. And I didn’t even know that I had a draft number until applied for a security clearance. (For the record both of his grandfathers volunteered before they could get drafted).

The National Guard is likely filled with civilians who need the extra income, are willing to do domestic community work, but not necessarily looking to be involved in an actual war.
