Imagine feeling like your country's newsmedia could at any time turn its back and begin this level of hate campaign against you, to the point that they harass you and everyone you love to the literal ends of the earth, mining you for content until your death and even after. How would you live life?

Another one here where the British press just smashed fuck out of a member of the public’s life for no good reason, just because they wanted to and nobody will stop them doing at. And they’re still going, even now.

Pre-transition what the Daily Mail did to Lucy Meadows (harassed her to death) was the single biggest push I got down the metaphorical stairs that by luck ended in rehab rather than dead. The only UK trans folk I know personally who aren't terrified of having this done to them, don't know it could.

I'm so glad, so so glad that Britain plc has retained a (Trump supporting, probably Islamophobic) nurse just shy of her pension and lost a doctor with many years service left to give. What a smart, productive choice we've made

The pure accounting of simply not firing the most senior employee before their pension is very telling. An American for profit hospital would have sued to prevent that nurse working anywhere else after firing- having nothing to do with bigotry.

I present this exercise for the cis people who've recently told me they're surprised by how bad things are. This is the torture we all live under, a torture we risk simply by using the bathrooms we feel most safe in, and doing the jobs we've always done. Many of us are planning to leave the country.

Please, I beg of you. Understand this environment trans people are living in when you interact with us online. You need to have way more than just basic empathy right now.

Oh, and by the way, given I know a lot of my followers haven't been watching this story? That trans doctor the Daily Mail article is fixated on? Did absolutely nothing wrong. Cleared of every charge. Was just living her life, forced to flee the country by NHS bigots and the British media. Yeah.

I said in this interview that life as a trans person in 2026 Britain is "terrifying", but I honestly don't really feel "terrified" so much as I feel "terrorised". And the industry I work in carries much of the blame.

there's been a worldwide campaign against trans people—nowhere has it been stronger (& less opposed) than the uk latest podcast with @aendra.com www.politicalphilosophypodcast.com/uk-media-trans

Everyone I know wouldn’t care less if the doctor was trans, black brown or bright yellow. They want to see a doctor. A professional. The Daily Fail is an abomination. Leave the trans people alone. They have had maybe are having enough to deal with. In Belfast slang “fuck away with your shite”

I've been preparing for the US to reach that point, and go further, for a long time. I got a piece of land as close to the Canadian border as I could and I seclude myself at the top of a hill in a forest with many dogs. I spend all my time & energy extricating myself from society and the economy.

I'm really glad she's managed to weather this without killing herself because I think if I was in her circumstances I probably already would have
