Can you imagine talking about another human being with this level of dehumanization and thinking it’s funny? Like, imagine saying this in a room in front of a stranger and supposing that they would not comment when they heard you. And I’m expected to act like it’s normal, or *I’m* weird to respond.

I do, as a matter of fact, think there’s value to the things I’ve written over the years. And having publicly talked about having faced cognitive challenges due to illness a few years ago, I’ve been interested in things that let me revisit my ideas in ways that are harder for me now. But okay.

honest question re: the model you trained for yourself- how do you know it’s telling you the truth ? what tests or otherwise in the codebase make you confident it’s giving you accurate results/summaries? I’m genuinely curious!

Oh it’s definitely *not* accurate and I’m not assuming it is. I’m just using it as a sort of impressionistic view of some of the content, a prompt to go back and look at what was actually there.

(Not that I’m particularly interested in ever performing humility or disability or anything else for strangers. If you ever think I’m full of myself? Enjoy it: I’m great and I love me.)

Many of the anti-AI arguments lie upon a basis of capital, copyright, and ownership. As long as property exists, we will be exploited by those who can freely exploit our labor. The DCMA should apply to AI, but also the DMCA shouldn't exist. Copyright shouldn't exist.

Now imagine if you can use Olmotrace tools on the LLM you've made. What you've done is not a bad idea at all and with enough tooling you can create some pretty interesting introspection. I can't remember what I did yesterday, so trying to remember what I wrote 25 years ago would be impossible.

allenai.orgGoing beyond open data – increasing transparency and trust in language models with OLMoTrace | Ai2OLMoTrace lets you trace the outputs of language models back to their full, multi-trillion-token training data in real time.

Every day that goes by I really think there was a psyop against LLMs just like there's that funky psyop against Wikipedia Being able to do what you've done paired with something like olmotrace and also being able to use the classic Feynman Technique against an LLM would actually be uh very good

I wouldn't take it personally. Taking the piss (making fun of somebody you actually like and respect) for being "too serious", is normal in a lot of places. I think every part of this exchange is funny but would also secretly love to train an AI on my own blogs and steamer trunk full of journal.

It’s alright, I get that this stuff also seems really abstract and it’s easy to forget there are real people on the other side. I’m sorry for getting heated, too… you can imagine sometimes it’s just a lot.
