I get the sense that she is probably a lot more successful than him, and he probably dated her mainly for her money. Considering that he was one step away from signing as her, he had been planning something like this (though maybe not the exact situation) for some time.

Call the broker and retract the application. Go ahead and fax him to tell him you’re not part of the application. Seriously consider whether you want a long term relationship with this person

There's a reason why I had to physically show up with 100 points of photo id the last time I bought property... Too many people signed for others.

Identity theft. He had no permission to take out a loan in her name for a house using illegally obtained personal information. Holy cow. God I hope she left him.

O HELL FUCKING *NO*. Dump him, lock everything down credit-wise, and BLOCK. My god the audacity. This is fraud, flat out, and her (hopefully ex-partner) is a giant liar working in concert with his Mom. His Mom's issue with finances is NOT hers to solve. RUN. NOW.

Interesting how she's the bad guy if she says no when he KNOWS he went behind her back to do all this (and chose to do so because he knew she wouldn't sign on willingly). It's sickening how often people use the "better to ask for forgiveness than permission" strategy.

That's reason for imeediately ending the relationship. And just to clear this up, his solution for not throwing away his money was to throw away his money PLUS her money ... did I read that correctly?

WOW. As you stated, this is fraud. She should get out, change all passwords and consider placing a fraud alert on her credit report with the credit agencies. (This is the process in Canada. I don't know where she lives.) Because they will DEFINITELY use her as a cosigner.

He has her social security number!! Kick him out, change the locks, let him try to rent a place with mommy, because I bet it was her credit rating that got them into that apartment. Tell mutual friends he may try to defraud. Of course, do all the other things suggested here, too. Wow. Just wow.

Yeah she should stop pressuring him to contact the broker ..... And find the info and contact him herself. I would NOT trust whatever he would tell him, but I bet the broker would get rid of all her stuff fast as lightning if she tells him it was given to him without her permission...

Grifters gonna grift. Mom plants the seed with the doomsday talk, BF tests the waters by asking about co-signing himself. When she doesn’t take the bait, BF goes behind her back expecting her to comply or planning forgery. She would have been on the hook for the loan in the end.

She needs to lock down all her finances, call the police and contact a lawyer. What he did is a crime and now that he has all of her information, what's to keep him from using it in the future?

Unfortunately, with patriarchy as the top societal norm, girls and women will not get the proper learning tools to do anything. Time and time again, women are seen as children who can't do anything right. Until conservatism is dead, women are left behind.

Girls *can* get those tools. I was 13 when I understood society's labelling of people's behabiour according to their sex. Women are called entitled bitches while men with the same behaviour are called strong characters. I was given the tools to determine my own worth according to my own values. 1

I do realise that my values differ from most peoples', and therefore a lot of people wouldn't attribute a lot of worth to me. But the beauty of selfworth is that it requires nobody else's judgement but one's own.

Go. Go now. Change passwords on everything, even if you are certain he doesn't have that password. You are in danger until you are safely away from him.
