BRENNAN: Goldman Sachs says the hit to growth from tariffs will more than offset the boost to growth from the fiscal package MIKE JOHNSON: What they're discounting is the growth that will be spurred on by this legislation and the fact that the so-called tariff war is beginning to subside already

Mike Johnson has mastered the Fox news facial expression. Wear a smile and a soft dreamy look when explaining horrors to the Fox audience, and they will cue off your vapid, smiling facial expression that it's "OK". Let's see how long that works or if it works anywhere but Fox

Mike Johnson is delusional - Trump is threatening 50% tariffs on the EU, 25% on smartphones, and will likely announce significant tariffs on Japan and South Korea in the coming weeks - and the legislation will plunge the US into a debt crisis which will paralyze the economy with high rates.

Goldman is discounting it because what Johnson is saying is not true and they operate in the real world with real money. Mike Johnson lives in a fascist fantasy world where truth is lies and reality is fake.

Prices continue to rise, the amount of goods we purchase are smaller…they’re lying and the media is 100% complicit in the coming suffering. Make no mistake, we really are all alone.

"The tariff war is subsiding as evidenced by Trump's new threats to increase tariffs on the European Union and smartphones. Because everybody is picking on us, wah, wah, and we've only ever helped people. Sometimes you need to kill them to help them like in Vietnam, Iraq and Korea. Jesus said it."

What kind of "growth" can possibly come from this fiscal package except that of the top 1% richest people in this country - who have proven in the past, that they are not willing to trickle down any part of their wealth.

We used to call this the "growth fairy." The "logic" is so massively flawed that anyone with a basic understanding of macroeconomics sees right through it. One of it's most glaring blind spots is the massive negative economic impact of cutting services to the poor.

Dead-Letter-Literal-Interpretation of the Bible Christian fundamentalism is responsible for Dementia Trump’s deconstruction of the social safety net for the poor and giving the money in tax cuts for the Rich. The churches are responsible for Trump & his Fox News appointees administration

Please please journalists do your job when facing fascists lies « the so-called tariff war is beginning to subside already » ?? Could you develop sir ? Are they deal signed ? Why can’t we call it a tariff war? Please please journalists do your job when facing fascists 😑

The ability of these* Christians to lie so effortlessly and so profusely, (with a shit-eating grin attached), is maddening. *There are Christians who actually take the religion's main tenets seriously, although it is rare to find one of these who is a Republican politician.

When you have a guest which spends the whole interview lying, and you do next to nothing to call them out for the lies so easily disproven, you're as big a part of the problem as they are. Shame on CBS. Is this part of your settlement with the current administration?

Forty years later, and we STILL have to listen to this Laffer-curve voodoo economics drivel from Republicans. And the media just accepts it. Come on Margaret, just point out that with half a century of evidence tax cuts have never paid for themselves and don’t spur magical growth. It’s exhausting.

There will be no boost to growth from the tax package. Tax cuts for the rich and corporations do not spur much growth. Our economy is consumer driven and the rich and corporations are already spending as much as they want to spend.

47 promised his tax cuts in 2017 were to be used by corporations to pay their workers higher wages and give them healthcare and reinvest...now that would have actually helped stimulate the economy. Instead corporations kept those tax windfall as higher profits and higher CEO pay = offshore accounts.

When tax cuts go to corporations with the intent that they hire or expand there are never any strings attached to make sure that's what they do with the money. When you get a tax cut to save for your retirement or kid's college you lose the tax cut and pay a penalty if you use it for anything else.

If the tariffs go away, then no one will build redundant factories in the U.S. The tariffs can't go away if they are to achieve their stated purpose and address the emergency that allowed the president to impose them. Or do they have another purpose?

"...the so-called tariff war is beginning to subside already..." Another way of saying "...Cheeto has surrendered, just after the damage was already done to the U.S economy..."

How is the tariff war subsiding if Trump is announcing new tariffs every other week? They are working overtime to try and convince people this bill will do the opposite of what it's going to do. Can't wait to see who they have in the pipeline to blame when none of this happens.

Growth will NOT be spurred on by tax cuts for the billionaires. The tariff war is NOT beginning to subside. Trump just threw in the towel on "negotiations" with EU and Apple bc they won't bend to his threats and extortion. Trump is destroying OUR country with your help. U all belong is jail!

Only fools believe this is a bill. This is a political coup to make us into a white Christian nation. This is what it looks. Taking away women’s equal rights? Why deporting all the Black people? Why the cruelty? It’s not a bill trying to lower our deficit. It’s a political coup.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Behold! New Moses. Chosen, anointed, and blessed by God himself. When New Moses speaks, it is as if God himself is speaking. New Moses shall lead his Chosen People to the Land of Milk and Honey where... What's that? 50% tariffs on the EU? Goddammit!

Mike Johnson: "What part of trickle down economics do you people not understand or believe? We keep telling you this and it's like no one buys it. Also, just because this is the same BS we trotted out in 2017 and it didn't really work that way doesn't mean it might not work this time."

The deficit is going to explode with this bill. And you are paying the tariffs. US companies pay the tariffs and pass the cost on to you by raising prices = it's a way for the repubs to tax you without you knowing they increased your taxes.

Wasn’t it just Friday that Dear Leader reignited the trade war with the EU? That on top of having already said that he’d be setting tariff rates for countries with which he hadn’t made a deal - which is almost all of them - just like when he started this mess. That’s doesn’t sound like subsiding.

Between their tariffs and their fiscal package, the instability created will generate retrenchment causing unemployment, rising costs, bankruptcies…most businesses which do remain in operation will no doubt raise prices to make up for shortfalls.💁🏻‍♀️

Adjudicated for fraud in NYS, Trump et al manufactured an accordion 🪗 aspect of property valuation as I picture it, relative to personal advantage. This is the same, scaled up and being peddled to the electorate. I would like to be mistaken in this.

Going from 145% tariffs to 30%+ tariffs is the amount of water going down (somewhat) but being six feet underwater instead of 10 feet underwater is an improvement, but still really really bad. bsky.app/profile/atru...
