Big difference: the 1926 sesquicentennial coin was a commemorative coin that was authorized explicitly by Congress. It was a limited production run… most of which were melted down because people didn’t want to pay a premium for the coin. Trump of course doesn’t care that he is breaking the law.

What Bessent is conveniently leaving out is that there are no restrictions for living people to be on coins. An 1866 federal law prohibits any living person from appearing on U.S. CURRENCY. If Taco wants his face on a penny, go for it!
