CASONE: We surpassed $40 trillion in debt. In any way, shape, or form, is fiscal restraint going to be on the agenda for you and your colleagues? TOM EMMER: Uh, it has been. That will be priority number one when we get through the midterms.

The Lunatic in the White House has pushed up the debt through his foolish war and his own greed. And lies, lies, lies! Don’t pretend it’s anybody else’s responsibility! 🤑 🤑 🤑 🤑 🤑

There will never been an admission of wrongdoing, never an admission of guilt, never an acknowledgement of responsibility. And somehow, their base will still see them as fiscally responsible

He’s lying. He knows you know he’s lying. The debt only matters when they can hammer the other guys with it. The Cons in Canada do it too. Conservatives being good fiscal managers is a major myth.

Yup! Cuz right now, Priority One is the ballroom, the golf course, the geographical name changes, pretending everything is fine on the USS Abraham Lincoln, pretending we’re winning the war that Trump started 47 years ago, and COVERING UP the Epstein Files.

$30 Trillion of this is from Bush 1, W.Bush & Trump’s gop tax cuts to the wealthiest & corporations. If you cut revenue & keep spending, you get a huge deficit & national debt. They said trickle down & starving the fed govt. would usher in a balanced budget, we got the opposite! Vote them out. 🇺🇸🌊

Even the dipshit saying it doesn’t believe it. It’s always “sometime in the future we will succeed” when republicans are asked about their many failures.

"That will be priority number one when we get through the midterms." Of course it will be. They are ALWAYS concerned about the debt when Dems have control. Republicans always blame the Dems for what they did. Hell, they're still blaming Biden for what they are doing now!

They've done the complete opposite this entire time lol. Now they are waiting until "after the midterms" when they lose power in the house and senate to work on fiscal restraint. What a typical GOP stance to take.

Not entirely ... we'll talk about theft, corruption, ignoring the Constitution/law, auditing Trump's (and family) finances, seize assets ... I sincerely hope a portion of that money is used to renovate Alcatraz (his idea) to house the Trump family for as long as courts sentence them all.

The abject STUPIDITY of these Republican legislators is astounding. Vote them all out of office, starting in November and continuing until the Republican Party is an extinct breed.

More. $12 trillion out of the $40 trillion total had been incurred during Trump's terms in office, and he has another 2.5 years to accrue more debt for the nation. That's $12 trillion in 5.5 years of Trump's presidency. By 2028, Trump's total could be over $18 trillion ...

Now wouldn't it be lovely to have a chart tracking the maturity of US Treasury Notes together with the interest rates they bear, and to track how much Trump is costing US taxpayers annually in debt service payments? 30-yr carrying 5.21% and Bessent is converting the bonds due now to long term?

That chart is easily misrepresented - why blue vs. red, given the usual democrat vs. republican meaning? Why combine the other presidents? "Other presidents added more debt than this one" is the message you're giving, and a link between "blue" and "debt". Don't expect people to read numbers...

SAY WHAT? Taxpayers’ Tab for Donald Trump’s Golf Habit Crosses $100 Million This is Trump's 56th visit to his course in West Palm Beach and 110th golf day in just over 14 months in office, keeping him on track to spend $300 million on golf. www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-...

U.S. debt surpassed 100% of GDP this year and is on track to reach 188% over the next 30 years, according to new analysis by @bbkogan.bsky.social and @jaredb-econ.bsky.social. They find the debt would instead be trending down toward 48%, were it not for the Bush and Trump tax cuts.

Yeah when the other side takes over we’re just gonna rage about the debt we created and the dumbest people in this country will eat it up just like every other damn time

I.e.- we created the 40 trillion dollar debt, when we loose the midterms, all you will hear about is the debt crisis. Republicans have been playing this game forever. Never vote Republican again 🗳️.

Priority #1 after we take care of: Voter Fraud Deporting Gramma's and Aunties Trans in the locker rooms and ladies' restrooms Arresting Reflecting Pool vandals Going after Trump's opponents with lawfare Funding Israel and the war in Iran ---yep, it's our Number 1 priority....

Since 1929, no Republican president has left office with a lower total national debt than when they started. How can anyone capable of logical thought expect a career failure like Trump to pull it off?

The guys who meekly abdicated their oversight role and turned the nation's purse strings over to a carnival barking used car salesman con man, business fraudster, tax cheat, convicted felon, and adjudicated rapist are going to seriously address fiscal restraint ... some day when it's convenient. 🫤

And we should believe this guy, why exactly? Emmer is either a liar or a complete idiot. Tax cuts and massive new spending that exceeds the Trump budget are the problem. It's easy math. The Republican response is always “just wait, it's going to get better soon...“ but things only get worse.

Emmer has no problem heaping blame on Tim Walz for every alleged failure in our state..he should have no right to be able to spew lies over and over nearly unchallenged about the deficit that he had a hand in causing

Right… they raised the debt to an insane amount after they won the last election but we should all trust their words that they have a plan in place to fix it if they win the coming election. Makes sense.

She had one job: Donald Trump is singlehandedly responsible for $12 trillion of that $40 trillion total. Donald Trump has been singlehandedly responsible for more than a quarter of the US national debt, and he has two and a half years to go to dig a deeper hole for future Americans.

Of course, they will miraculously rediscover US debt right after the mindterms, and will start crying about it endlessly, or till the next time MAGA politician comes to power. Rinse, repeat, rinse repeat. Well known GOP MO. But right now, not a peep about debt, that's the order by the orange fella.

“Once the people voted, we can pretend to care about the deficit and take away their privileges.” Remember that tax cuts for the poor and middle class end by 2027, while those for the rich wil go on.
