KARL: Do you support Trump banning news organizations because he doesn't like what they're reporting? SCALISE: Look, Biden removed the press credentials from 400 agencies KARL: That's not true. 400 reporters who had credentials didn't reapply. They weren't banned from the WH. That did not happen.

When someone lies to your audience this boldy and shamefully, the correct response is to end the interview with a comment similar to this: Congressman if you're going to live so brazenly to my audience, I have no other choice but to terminate this interview. Goodbye.

I don’t think that goes far enough. Instead of ending the interview, I would say: “ I just caught you in a lie. Why did you think you could come on to my show and blatantly lie to me? Do you think it’s ok to lie to the public? Why do you think it’s ok to lie?” Don’t let him off the hook.

Stop giving these morons airtime! They will just lie and troll, I get it's entertaining but it's also giving them a platform. America needs to stop sensationalizing bad behaviour and call it "news" GET THEM OFF THE AIR AND SILENCE THEM OUT!

Only 1 person was actively denied. The administration updated stricter criteria following concerns over foreign agent posing as a member of the press infiltrating the Trump Administration to get their hands on classified documents. Around 440 people chose not to reapply.

Scalise gets pushback from Karl and suddenly develops an acute case of Mike Johnson Syndrome where he hasn’t seen or heard something and therefore can’t answer why. 🙄

Another disastrous display by our mainstream media. This is a great example of why the US is crashing. Platforming a fascist and letting them successfully build a false narrative while providing only token pushback. If you didn't have knowledge of how fascism works, you'd be fooled.

This cocksucker is alive because of 2 Capital police officers at the ball field shot the shooter He and speaker penis refused to put up the plaque thanking the police for they’re service on 1/6 because both were involved in a conspiracy that day to keep a criminal in office

He’s the worst trash Trumper in the trump party who voted to cancel ACA subsides for millions of Americans yet his healthcare is the best and partially funded by taxpayers. It allowed Scalise treatments that cured his multiple myeloma yet he gleefully lies to protect dotard. Sickening!

I mean, this is an important congressman. He has a person on staff to cook up 3 different plausible lies, then another person to test-market all 3 candidate lies to pre-selected groups representing people the team thinks might be credulous enough to believe this kind of BS. It's a "science."

Scalise a victim of gun violence who started to talk sensible gun laws suddenly changed his tune when the Russian Owned NRA dropped a fat check on him...

That's the problem there's nothing but a little boy in the White House. A petulant mind of a six-year-old." I don't like what they're saying so I'm kicking them out". And the clown circus show goes on.

Finally. I think the media is feeling this more. They have been just allowing comments that don't directly impact them. Now this is in their wheelhouse and they are fired up.

And many of those were people who weren’t real reporters but Trump sycophants from propaganda networks who knew they weren’t qualified so why bother, but also had no interest in press briefings that were just facts and not weird rants.

Biden admin updated renewal criteria rather than targeted ban on entire news orgs: proof of full-time employment with primary news outlet, hold official congressional/ supreme court press gallery credentials, & verify physical access to the WH complex at least once in the prior six months. 1/2

As Scalise here perfectly demonstrates, an official can talk back after a question without actually, truly ANSWERING it. That's called 'misdirection', and it usually involves lying, as well as babbling about anything BUT a direct answer to a direct question.

Karl completely drops the ball here and despite pointing out that Scalise was being misleading, the entire segment is still 90% just Scalise avoiding the (bad, weakly formed) question and glazing Trump while Karl watches.

I say to GOP members when I run into one in my life: I point at interviews like this and say this is what the Nazi's did! Also, I am sick of hearing this Administration saying "this is what Biden did". It is always a lie.

The "Whataboutism" Olympics: where the goal isn't to answer the question, but to invent a statistic so wildly inaccurate that the interviewer has to stop and do basic math. Efficiency at its finest.

I'm sure it's awfully cumbersome to go through your daily life with another man's scrotums in your mouth. The way they make excuses for the "jenius" in charge is astounding‼️

Wow... a Republican lie, called out? Should be a trend, and cue the whines about 'bias'... to our GOP friends, 'both sides' means there's reality, on the one hand, and there's 'talking point lies' on the other, and both must be treated as equals...🤡

What would be helpful is if people understood how vast the WH press pool is. It's beyond the same people you see asking questions in the press room. I have a friend who was a WH reporter who never appeared on TV but was part of the press pool on 9-11.

See this? This is actual pushback. It's not a sarcastic quip and then allowing Scalise to reiterate his lie. Simply Karl (and his team) having done their research, knowing what the talking point would be, and shutting it the fuck down immediately to the point where Scalise didn't even try again.

Some autocorrect features will arbitrarily change “its” to “it’s,” regardless of intention. That’s how a good majority of grammar issues happen, because a large portion of the population relies on autocorrect rather than their own brains. Sometimes, it does it when you hit “send” too quickly.

In reality, news orgs routinely push back. But you don't "see" it because it wouldn't be in the best interests in the so-called "independent media" (aka former media people now flogging subs to their own versions of "the media").

This is not pushback, this is also pathetic. Scalise went on to say he never saw the president turn a question down…while there is literal video evidence of him calling a reporter a “piggy” for asking a question he didn’t like. How’s that not turning a question down? And theres so much more evidence

It's so rare and infrequent, it almost shocks you when you see it. Republicans are clearly shocked by it, because they always act like kids who were caught lying to their parents when they're called out on their lies.

Yes, and we need to see this done in Trump interviews, too. I can’t stand what they let him get away with putting out in the world, which then gets taken as gospel by his followers

I wish he delivered that in the way it comes across in the text. Watch the video. He is practically apologetic in correcting Scalise. He doesn't actually want to clash with him.

👍 hopefully it’s just the beginning. If they hadn’t been allowed to lie so vociferously for so long without direct pushback we wouldn’t be where we are today. They should join arms, stop the fear and be journalists. Bring the real news, the truth to the American people. The 1st Amendment is our core

They're going to start revoking or not renewing broadcast licenses of ABC/ Disney news stations. WABC New York is already asking its viewers to write to that Neanderthal Carr about it. They are worse than the Nazis of the late 30s because they pretend they are acting within some acceptable norm

ABC6 in Philadelphia asked their viewers also. They are still waiting on Carr's decision but a couple of weeks ago they started streaming on Disney Plus along with remaining on broadcast news until a decision is made.
