Judging from the replies, an astounding number of people still cannot grasp that "taking all the prominent liberal and progressive voices and putting them on a remote island where no ordinary people or institutions interact with them will reduce the political influence of liberals and progressives"

It's hard to avoid the conclusion that Bluesky has been a net negative for US politics. They corralled everyone on the left into a little glass fishbowl where they shout at one another & everyone else ignores them. Meanwhile, all the pols & institutions stayed on X & are being dragged farther right.

I don’t think people disagree with that so much as people disagree with the implication that keeping them in the torture chamber of X (where, let’s be clear, due to algorithm changes they no longer had any real influence anyway) would somehow have been better for anyone involved

All of this (again) implies that the right doesn't have agency. X was a Superfund site, so libs come to BlueSky, therefore BlueSky is a net negative for US politics? No, I disagree. BlueSky is a consequence of the right's hostile takeover of media for the last 40 years. *That's* the negative.
