Foundations of my combat system: Parry & Counter. Timing can be a little tricky for charging enemies but once mastered it's really satisfying. Don't feel sorry for the moth. It picked the fight. #indiedev #gamedev #indiegame #survivalgame #parry #counter #moth #combat

This is a good point for sure! My plan is that they have a circle with a direction arrow/indicator at the ground below each enemy. It's going to change color to indicate the attack and the the moment you need to parry.

You're right of course. I need to test it visually. Still, it's quite important that the player knows when they're going to get hit. Enemy sprites will usually only be left/right so indicating their direction in combat feels like a good idea. (It will be customizable in options too :D )

Well the sound effect fits perfect and the deflect is obvious enough what is going on, all I could say is that on the follow up attack it could have some special "Guard break attack" fx. I think I will add that to my game too! Out of curiosity, where did you find your awesome sound fx?

Thank you! I usually combine and adjust SFX to avoid using "stock" assets. In this project I rely mostly on free assets from Soundly. The deflect SFX is a mix of on impact effect from soundly and "bubble" effect form Boom Library "Procesed Impacts" (this one is also free)
