Please consider calling Costco corporate at 425-313-8100 (press 0 to speak with an operator) and just say thanks for continuing their DEI policies. They add you to the list of positive supporters. We need to support businesses that do the right thing under pressure. #CostcoDEIPolicies

People never seem to understand that “cheaper “ Walmart ends up costing them more in the long run. Extra taxes to cover the taxes Walmart doesn’t pay. Our tax dollars going to pay for assistance for Walmart employees. Having to make up for loss in tax revenues when smaller businesses end up closing

I bet the Costco employee's in Australia get paid more than the ones in USA. ALL Australian worker's get all tax paid, Holiday pay, Public Holiday and Weekend pay. Overtime pay, all insurances and Superannuation as well at minimum.

Renewed my membership after 5 years. I was asked why. I told them I wanted to show my appreciation for pushing back against the felon’s wishes to end DEI policies. If a person with a disability can work, let them. Women should have time off after child birth. Costco is not bending to stupidity.

In a free market each unit of labor receives its fair price. So unions are not necessary. When unions appear on the scene, it means that they want above-market wages or other benefits at the expense of everyone else.

Workers, whether unionized or not, are consumers. So, in a 100% unionized world everyone will be a loser. Because such a system will lead to rapid capital consumption, etc., etc.

It’s still a greedy corporation but they are at least trying to right for their workers which is light years ahead of most American corporations.

I just renewed my membership since I found out I can still shop online and have almost everything delivered. My nearest store is 2hrs away in the neighbouring state. I'd love to have them set up in NW Arkansas!

This is only going to affect a percentage of employees. This isn’t starting wage, this is what’s called being “ topped out”. It takes years to get to this. I used to work at Costco. So it’s nice but, they also need to shorten the length of time it take it takes to get that 30 an hour.

I live in a super small place too.. The membership pays for itself in gas savings within a month alone, and for $5 you can get a rotisserie chicken that will last you a week! Plus cheaper fruit and milk that can still be bought by the gallon. Cheap liquor, cheaper tires- it’s absolutely worth it!

There’s lots of instances like clothing, alcohol, cakes and desserts, entertainment platters, hot chicken and prepared meals, fruit etc. that don’t come in such massive quantities. As a single guy I easily cost justify my membership every year

That's fantastic! <3 They're supposed to be building a Costco within driving distance of us, and I wish they'd do it a bit faster. I'd love to switch from BJs to them. (they also always look like they get more interesting items.)

The raise has nothing to do with the union talks. Costco gives a standard $1-1.50 raise per year to topped-out employees. This year, it happens to go over $30 because last years topped out raise went to $29.40. The union talks, however, may show up in the new handbook.

That isn't how pricing works. Consumers have a max they will pay and they don't give a fuck what the stores expenses are. Due to capitalism, retailers already seek the max price they can get away with without harming sales volume.

Yes consumers may pay more but for a few pennies more or a few dollars more I’m willing to shop at establishments that take care of their employees. When other corporations start losing their consumers due to companies like Costco they may follow suit

These are unions that steal money from consumers and non-unionized workers. In the market, every labor has its price. So, if unions get more than the market decides, someone will get less. And it is not the owners who will get less.

THIS is how to outdo your competitors in this labor market: you hire away talented but undervalued folks and give them a way to make a better life for themselves. No big secret. Should tighten the culos of HR departments everywhere. I’d certainly switch from Fred Meyer!

That's about what my college degree gets me as a nurse. Maybe time to stop the constant underrstaffed, life saving, anxiety filled, verbally abusive stress, take a small pay cut, and go work for costco

bet you'd get treated better, too....Dont worry...Costco are no fools, they will grow the business as we support it...medical care? Maybe not tomorrow, but I could see them starting to open up small clinics

I don’t think anyone would argue that nurses and CNA’s are grossly underpaid and overworked. Thank you for all that you do from the bottom of my heart. I recently had some tissue excised for biopsy in an outpatient surgery center and the nurses assuaged my fears and were so kind to me. ❤️
