Technologists, journalists, celebrities / personalities, organizations, etc. should all spend 30 minutes creating a recovery key to put into 1password. I don't think that I can recommend doing this enough. This is up there with enabling advanced-protection for your devices and accounts.

yeah, i think the ones that are less dev-savvy may unfortunately just say what the heck is the command line and just not bother

I think @mary.my.id’s site has a way to add a rotation key just directly. i’ve done it before it was super easy (but you have to generate your own keys via command line, which sounds like half the problem in this thread)

Yeah goat is trust. Everything is trust. Trust is impossible to eliminate from the equation due to the interconnectedness of everything. Most of what we perceive as “trustless” is just trust that has been abstracted to the point of imperceptibility.

I’d love a simple web interface (self hostable too?) that lets you migrate your profile, back up keys, back up posts (all locally) — that’d make it all much easier imo
