Human language needs a new pronoun, something whereby an AI may identify itself to its users. When, in conversation, a chatbot says to me “I did this thing”, I - the human - am always bothered by the presumption of its self-anthropomorphizatuon.

given humans would never use it, and humans produce the data llm regurgitate, this even if you could get it working would seem to me to have the perverse impact of masking the fact it is just aggregate human text you get fed, not a conversation, even harder to understand.

Seriously. How about just de-anthropomorphising the language entirely. It’s just a very powerful search algorithm using “natural language” in its results because marketing wants to convince you that their very expensive AI algorithm is something new and shiny and life-changing.

if we insist that this is a tool, then I (the person who used the tool) did this thing, full stop in the old times, the machine would just report actions taken, in passive voice the problem with proactive "agents" is that they are not really "a tool". we *expect* agency of this simulated butler.

In my usage, Claude refers to itself in the third person a lot -- "here is Claude's plan". And I get a bit annoyed by that. There's literally no pleasing everybody.
