Do you think iPhone Duo supports Bumble and Tinder or just Hinge?

How *IS* pre order supposed to work? Are we supposed to be force quitting & toggling network to flush DNS? Or just wait on the blocked screen? Also for the 2nd yr, the pre-preorder “complete your order” popover showed on start and then disappeared defeating the point. Had to find it in “for you”

Watching TV and every other ad is an app showing how you can chat with AI in the app (e.g. Thumbtack, Instacart). All I want is for them to expose an MCP server so my agent can talk to their services instead of using their apps. 😭

Pretty excited for Reeder on the iPhone Duo, hope it's not going to be a terribly long wait.

I cannot get over how much of the iPhone Duo is what was leaked / talked about for Andromeda. "Postures". It's only missing the carpenter pencil. If it hadn't been a decade, and the Surface Duo hadn't happened, it'd have thought this was industrial espionage!

There are a million other changes and improvements throughout the app but those are the big ones. Now that we have a more affordable plan for single-network users, we're hoping to spread the word far and wide. We'd really appreciate if you could give this thread a share. Thanks - Ben & Aaron

Indigo 1.3 is available now! We've got a bunch of great new features I'll get to in a sec, but first up is a new pricing option. Indigo was great value if you used both Bluesky and Mastodon, but a little pricy if you just used one. Now there's a $19.99 plan for single-network use 😀

OH At the Apple Store: Watch bands are in very short supply, so we're having to make compromises. [someone wanting to exchange a watch strap they bought with the watch but it didn't fit] Do Apple Watch straps have RAM?!

Times when I most fantasize about quitting tech: 1. quiet sunlit mornings spent pondering the destructive effects of careless growth capitalism run amok, and mournfully reflecting on my direct personal contributions to these problems 2. trying to use Google Slides for literally anything

As we get better at AI tools, a lot of today's usage will look like treating early cars as faster horses before we ended up building cities around them. I suspect building more dashboards with AI tools versus asking agents for data and visualizations on demand is one of those patterns.

The problem with social media is the same as with betting apps: they privatize a socially conspicuous vice. Going to a sportsbook and being in that crowd naturally restrains a lot of people's gambling. On social media, you ingest opinions from lunatics you would never want to be around.

We were having dinner and one of my kids commented that the remainder of their bagel looked a lot like an ear and I asked if anyone had seen Vincent Van Dough around and none of those assholes laughed.

We should actually be trying to use as much electricity as possible and always be increasing the amount of electricity we generate forever. Electricity gets cleaner as it scales. In the long arc of civilization, energy austerity is immoral and energy abundance is moral.

I'm sorry but fuck off with this. There's only one way to distribute apps on iOS and if you don't get enough attention then you can't use it? If you think my toy app is a waste of your resources then I'll happily take another way to distribute my app.

My day job is at a rural branch of a public library, and we have a Pride display. Yesterday I was at the desk when a man came in. Fifties, maybe, or sixties. Plaid shirt, mesh trucker cap, suspenders. He went up to the display and just stood there for a long moment. Then he came up to the desk. 🧵 1/

My gut says this is an intermediate phase until a breakthrough makes AI reliable, not just convincing. I now see why Yann LeCun and Demis Hassabis are focused on world models that help AI understand how the world works. LLMs may eventually look like a distraction on the road to AGI.

We used to edit work before sharing it, but now the internet is flooded with 3 hour podcasts of two guys in tech saying whatever into a mic, 10,000 word stream of thought blog posts, and 30 minute reaction videos about nothing. Exercise a little taste, this is how people are going to remember you.

One of the best things I did when working on a Mac app was use a 1x display. You'd be shocked how many apps have simple pixel rounding errors.

If you do, and your revenue tanks it's Ok because your revenue per employee will go up!

A silly mistake many tech companies are making right now is the assumption that you can replace a worker with a markdown file.
