Can’t decide what to buy on Prime Day? Try: absolutely nothing, and then go support indie bookstores instead 📚

I must be doing something right, because this is the first I have even heard about it being any special day other than the start of the war in Gaza a couple years ago.

Besos is the trump kissing oligarch captain of retail. May his business collapse with tarrifs & global uncertainty. Amazon is a corporate machine designed to exploit workers, concentrate wealth & rob us of our communities.

Yes, except many indie authors (90% of them) have their books on Amazon. Unfortunately, Amazon rarely does sales of indie paperbacks and hardcovers. So... Indie authors are fucked either way. In my hometown there are only two bookstores. Indigo ×1 Used bookstore ×1 Indie bookstores ×0

The problem with indie bookstores is that many of them only sell books by trad authors. If you order an indie book via any bricks-n-mortar bookstore the author gets paid a smaller royalty, because they get a smaller piece of the pie since the bookstore takes their share out of the author's share.

And don’t think you’re bypassing Amazon by using eBay. New items that ship free from the US and are returnable are likely to arrive in Amazon packaging.

I just ordered a stack of books from you last night! I appreciate all the work that's been going into improving your UX, I can tell the experience has been steadily improving over the last few years.
