I emailed Patrick Healy, assistant managing editor for standards and trust at NYT, to ask why their story about a House report with new details of rape allegations against the President of the United States included neither those details, nor a single use of the word "rape." archive.is/1s9AM

If you’re grossed out by AI and data centers piss you off, you could sign up for a membership with coyotemedia.org, an outlet owned by actual human journalists! Support indie media so you don’t end up getting your news from AI slop

Nuala Bishari@nuala.bsky.social

How about the irony of a story I wrote for @coyotemedia.org — with my own two hands!! — getting scraped by AI and vomited up on Hoodline, the now zombified neighborhood news site where I had my first journalism job (it was real in 2014). And no, the journalist here, “Eileen Vargas” does not exist 🤖

Hi, I’m Chloe, I’m a squishy human person who’s been around for donkey’s years, and this is my artwork. I sell it online because this is the path of least resistance currently. Here are ten recent pictures all of which are currently for sale through my website. www.chloecumming.com

"Reading books is active resistance" is something I tell to my students every day.

AOC: "As AI begins to encroach in our society, their goal is to take your cognition away from you. AI's goal is to take your thoughts away from you, your ability to think away from you, so that you become dependent on a machine ... reading books is active resistance"

Thanks so much to @maddow.bsky.social for having me on to talk EARLY VOTE, No Kings, and our quest to get answers from Meta 👇

“This is not a situation in which anyone is getting the benefit of the doubt. We need a full and transparent explanation and we need it to be public.” @leahgreenberg.bsky.social and @maddow.bsky.social discuss Meta’s apology for censoring No Kings and the @nkcoalition.bsky.social’s letter to Meta.

Enjoying Fred Hoyle’s The black cloud, particularly how judgemental two British scientists are about each-other’s in-flight reading choices.

In case it still needs saying, the tech-bros do not believe in "free speech". They believe in "power": power to lift themselves above any limits on or consequences for their own speech, and power to determine what speech can be seen or heard by others.

ICE agents broke a U.S. citizen's arm when they intentionally struck him with an unmarked vehicle as he rode his e-bike in Long Beach, California. He screamed in pain as agents tased him twice and handcuffed him on the ground. His injuries are severe. Repost this everywhere!

I have acquired all of Shigeru Mizuki’s Showra from a library sell off and am currently sat in the armchair with my arm around them

If you're in New York, call @schumer.senate.gov and tell him to immediately DEFEND Ilhan Omar or RESIGN his leadership position. (202) 224-6542 I just called and got the machine and left a message - you can do this, to!

Plan C stopped in front of LACMA and in East Hollywood over the weekend on their Community Road Trip to share that you can still order Plan B pills by mail, even in the 13 states that have completely banned abortion. Read the full story at: lataco.com/plan-c-abort... 🎥: Karina Soriano

No Skylink user can rely upon its infrastructure under its current leadership. That undermines the value proposition of the business itself and that’s only something you do once before customers migrate to being ex-customers.

The first alcoholic drink I drank was a small glass of Country Manor served by my parents with Sunday lunch. I had always assumed it was a wine, but it turns out that it was in fact a perry.
